A couple of years ago, I reviewed the Stonemill Kitchens Buffalo Ranch Dip, which is quite similar to their new Buffalo-Style Chicken Ranch Dip, except for one key difference, the addition of chicken! I was initially hesitant about trying a pre-packaged dip with chicken, but I decided to give it a shot. So, did I end up regretting my decision, or did I discover a new favorite dip?
Location in Store
This is located in the refrigerated deli section near all the other dips like the Fontaine Sante Hummus, the La Terra Fina Queso Dip with Cheddar and the Good Foods Plant Based Queso Style Dip. The item number is 1806156.
Taste
Right away you notice that this has a cream cheese base, it’s really creamy tasting. If you’re sensitive to spicy food, you may want to avoid this dip. I do think that the cream cheese and sour cream have a cooling affect though! I can’t really taste the chicken, it’s a very fine, shredded chicken. There aren’t big chunks of chicken in the dip, just little bits.
The dip is spicy, and I’d say it has a medium level of heat. My lips and tongue were tingling a bit while eating it! Sometimes I find dips to be too salty but not this one! Overall, it has a nice spicy, cheesy, creamy flavor with a hint of chicken.
Cost
The 680-gram container of dip costs $13.99 Canadian which isn’t cheap for a dip but it’s also not bad considering how large the container is! The expiry date was only a few days from when I purchased it, if the expiry date was longer I wouldn’t mind paying as much as I did.
Convenience
I was shocked when I got home and saw the best before date was only about three days from the date I purchased it. I should have looked before I bought it, there was no way I was going to be able to use all this dip before the expiry date. The dip needs to be kept refrigerated and I probably wouldn’t bother freezing it.
You can pair this buffalo-style chicken ranch dip with raw veggies, crackers, chips, pita bread, mini naan or slices of baguette! This would be great at a party, potluck or as an appetizer at home.
Nutrition
Calories
A two-tablespoon serving contains 70 calories, six grams of fat, one gram of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, one gram of sugar, three grams of protein and 270 milligrams of sodium. This dip is low in carbs and doesn’t have a ton of calories and fat per serving. The sodium is right where I’d expect it to be at 270 milligrams.
Ingredients
The main ingredients are cream cheese, chicken, sour cream, buffalo sauce, mozzarella, mayonnaise and ranch seasoning. I wish the mayonnaise used wasn’t made of soybean oil and instead was an avocado oil mayo but that would make this more expensive! The dip contains milk, eggs and soy but is gluten-free.

Overall
Give it a try!
I like the flavor of the dip but it’s a bit spicy for my sensitive tastebuds, I can handle it in small doses!
