Costco Purely Elizabeth Organic Original Granola Review

As soon as I spotted the Purely Elizabeth Organic Original Granola at Costco, I was excited to give it a try. It’s vegan, gluten-free, organic, and free from artificial colors and flavors—what more could you ask for in a granola? While I knew it checked all the health boxes, I wasn’t sure how it would taste!

I found this granola in the aisle with all the cereal and other granolas like the Nature’s Path Coconut & Cashew Butter Granola and the Nature’s Path Pumpkin Seed and Flax Granola. The item number is 1850468.

Taste

I immediately noticed just looking in the bag that there are large clusters/chunks of granola along with small pieces which I like. The texture of the granola is pretty crunchy and crisp, not really chewy.

The granola isn’t very sweet and has a noticeable cinnamon flavor. I also noticed it having almost a molasses/burnt flavor which I didn’t love but didn’t bother me either. Overall this is a simple, crunchy, not very sweet granola with a hint of cinnamon.

Cost

The 680 gram bag costs $12.99 Canadian which is reasonable for a pretty large bag of granola that’s gluten-free and vegan!

Convenience

The bag reseals which is nice because that makes the granola easy to store and also keeps it fresh. The best before date on the granola is almost ten months from when we purchased it. Because the granola has big clusters you can easily snack on it on it’s own.

My favorite way to use granola is on top of a bowl of berries and Greek yogurt. I also like to put it on smoothies for a bit of extra crunch. You could also use it as a topping for oatmeal or yogurt on its own!

Nutrition

Calories

One cup of granola contains 390 calories, 16 grams of fat, 55 grams of carbohydrates, seven grams of fibre, 17 grams of sugar, eight grams of protein and 410 milligrams of sodium. I was kind of shocked by the high amount sodium since the granola tastes mainly sweet!

I don’t think most people eat a whole cup of granola in one sitting. I think a lot of people consume about 1/4 to 1/2 a cup sprinkled on something like yogurt.

Ingredients

I’m a big fan of the ingredients list. The granola only contains whole, simple ingredients that are all organic. The sugar used is coconut sugar and the oil in the granola is coconut oil. The granola is gluten-free, organic, vegan and has no artificial flavors or colors which is great for granola!

Overall

Give it a try!

This isn’t my favorite granola but I like it enough to finish my bag, I’m not sure if I’d buy it again. I like granolas that have a variety of textures and flavors like dried fruits and nuts.
