I’ve tried several Pulmuone products before, such as their beef stir fry noodles, beef japchae and the teriyaki stir fry udon but none of them have really impressed me. So when I came across these Pulmuone Crispy Potato Corn Dogs at Costco, I didn’t have high expectations. However, since I love both corn dogs and cheese, I figured I’d give them a try. Could these finally restore my faith in the Pulmuone brand?
Location in Store
These are located in the freezer aisle at Costco, near the Bibigo Beef Bulgogi Mandu and the TGI Friday’s Loaded Potato Skins. The item number is 1781211.
Taste
I baked the potato corn dog in my oven and it turned out pretty crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. There’s also some texture on the outside from the potato cubes that kind of taste like a French fry or hashbrown.
The batter has quite a bit of sweetness to it which I wasn’t expecting and I’m disappointed that you can’t really taste the cheese. The flavor of the cheese is really mild, a cheddar or Monterey jack might be a bit more flavorful.
Overall I find these are kind of like eating a chewy, spongey, sweet dough with a hint of Mcdonald’s French fry flavor. They’re pretty unique tasting but not in a good way.
They’re not bad but they’re pretty bland tasting other than the odd sweetness. I think they could use some salt, a different kind of a cheese and less sugar.
Cost
The bag comes with eight individually packaged large potato corn dogs and costs $14.99 Canadian. That’s about $1.88 per potato dog.
Convenience
There are four different ways to heat the crispy potato corn dogs, I heated mine in the oven. Although I didn’t use the air fryer my potato corn dog still came out very crispy and golden brown on the outside.
Each potato corn dog comes individually packaged and is skewered a sturdy wooden stick. They’re really easy to quickly heat up for a quick snack, lunch or appetizer.
The best before date is roughly 10 months from when I purchased them and they need to be kept frozen. I wish the bag came with some kind of sauce to serve with the crispy potato corn dogs. I was going to have ketchup but decided that would be too sweet.
Nutrition
Calories
One crispy potato corn dog contains 290 calories, 14 grams of fat, 34 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fibre, eight grams of sugar, seven grams of protein and 390 milligrams of sodium. I expected there to be more sugar based on how sweet they taste.
Ingredients
The ingredients list has a bunch of ingredients I don’t like seeing such as dextrose, soybean and canola oils and sugar. However I didn’t expect these to be healthy, after all, they are a potato and cheese corn dog.
I’m not sure they should even be called a corn dog because they’re missing the “corn” and the “dog”. They contain wheat, milk, egg and soy.

Overall
Walk on by!
These look so good on the bag but they’re nothing special and the overall flavor is pretty bland other than being sweet.
