Costco Pasta Prima Spinach & Mozzarella Ravioli Review

When I buy ravioli it’s usually in the refrigerated section at Costco, not the freezer aisle. This Pasta Prima Spinach & Mozzarella Ravioli is conveniently frozen so there’s no rush to use it up. It’s also unique because it’s the first ravioli I’ve bought that comes with two seasoning packets. I’ve tried and reviewed a lot of raviolis from Costco and I’m excited to be reviewing one more!

If you like pasta, Costco carries a variety of options! Some of my favorites are the Kirkland Signature Organic Spinach & Cheese Ravioli, Rana Fettuccini Grilled Seasoned White Chicken & Alfredo Sauce, Olivieri Cannelloni, Kirkland Signature Five Cheese Tortelloni, Kirkland Signature Meat Lasagna and the Rana Tagliattelle, Seasoned White Chicken & Mushroom Sauce.

Location in Store

We bought this from Costco while vacationing in Kona, Hawaii. It can be found in the freezer section and the item number is 229644.

The ravioli are quite large!

Taste

This ravioli is absolutely full of cheesy, salty filling! There’s a noticeable amount of spinach but there’s also a ton of cheese. The ravioli comes with two seasoning packets and the seasoning is super strong so I recommend only using a little. The seasoning is herb and garlic flavored mixed with pamesan. If you’re like my husband and don’t like really strong cheese you could skip the seasoning and serve this with a red sauce.

Ready to try!

The pasta itself is really nice, I only boiled it for 6 minutes and it came out perfectly al-dente and didn’t break apart or burst. This is a very, very cheesy pasta with the taste and texture of spinach being noticeable but not too strong. It’s pretty salty and filling, just a few ravioli is enough for me.

Cost

The 1.59 kilogram bag of frozen ravioli and two herb and cheese packets costs $12.99 USD which isn’t bad for such a big bag of ravioli.

I’d say one bag has enough ravioli to feed a family of four with two kids and two adults at least two dinners.

I find the ravioli very filling!

Convenience

You cook the ravioli right from frozen in in a pot of boiling water for six to eight minutes. The instructions recommend serving the ravioli with olive oil and the seasoning packet and that’s what we did. It turned out extremely flavorful with just the oil and seasoning, I wouldn’t say it needs a sauce.

There are some recipes for how to use the ravioli on the bag to make a “lazy lasagna” or as a “crispy fried ravioli appetizer”. The ravioli has a best before date that’s nine months from when we purchased it.

I think the whole family will enjoy this ravioli, it’s a quick, convenient, filling meal that would be perfect for those nights you need something on the table in minutes.

Calories

96 grams of ravioli pasta plus four grams of seasoning/parmesan contains 220 calories, seven grams of fat, 420 milligrams of sodium, 28 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fiber, one gram of sugar, and nine grams of protein.

I believe most people will eat more than a cup but the calories and fat for a cup really aren’t that bad! The carbs and sodium are what are a bit on the high side.

Ingredients

The ingredients list mainly has spinach, different kinds of cheese, seasonings, spices, flour and egg. There is also bread crumbs and canola oil. For a frozen, packaged pasta there are far less additives/preservatives and unhealthy ingredients than I expected.

Overall

Give it a try!

Everyone enjoyed this ravioli. I think if I were to have it again I’d use a very small amount of the seasoning as a little goes a long way.

Have you tried this Pasta Prima Spinach & Mozzarella Ravioli ? What did you think of it?
