Costco Ohh! Double Chocolate Snacking Bites Review

Many people are focused on clean eating and avoiding inflammatory ingredients such as dairy and gluten. The Ohh! Double Chocolate Snacking Bites from Costco seem to be a perfect option for those seeking a healthy snack that’s both sweet and chocolaty. With an enticing appearance on the packaging, these bites promise a clean treat. But as we all know, appearances can be deceiving.

Location in Store

These snacking bites are located in the snack section at Costco near the Kirkland Signature Protein Bars and the Kirkland Signature Chocolate Covered Almonds. The item number is 1858375.

Taste

These aren’t as good as I hoped, they’re not bad but they’re not amazing. They taste kind of like an RX bar but I’d much rather just have an RX bar than one of these bites. At first you taste purely chocolate but then you can notice the flavor of the dates.

The chocolate is more like a dark chocolate rather than a milk chocolate and is pretty strong. The bites are quite sweet and definitely taste like chocolate and dates combined and that’s pretty much it.

The texture is chewy and very dense. The best part about them is the little chocolate chips, that add some nice crunchy texture. If you’re craving something sweet and chocolaty but are trying to eat clean. they hit the spot. However, they’re so tiny that eight grams of sugar for one seems like too much.

Cost

The bag contains 30 bites, each bite weighs 15 grams and I paid $12.99 Canadian for the bag. The bites are actually really small so it’s not really that great of a deal to get a bag of 30 for $12.99.

Convenience

Each bite is individually packaged and the best before date is about seven months from when I purchased them. These are great for people with allergies to dairy, gluten or soy and have clean ingredients but they’re also really small, so don’t expect to eat one or two and be full. I think they’re mainly good for providing a small bite-sized “treat” to curb cravings for sweets.

Nutrition

Calories

One bite contains 50 calories, one gram of fat, 40 milligrams of sodium, 10 grams of carbohydrates, five grams of fibre, eight grams of sugar and one gram of protein. The calories, fat and fibre is all good but the amount of sugar per bite isn’t awesome. Eight grams of sugar for a super small bite seems like a lot to me.

Ingredients

I absolutely love the ingredients list. All clean, natural ingredients. The bites are free from dairy, wheat, soy, nuts and have no refined sugar.

Walk on by!

I was so disappointed by how small these are, if you’re looking for a clean, sweet, treat I’d go for the RX Bars from Costco.
