Costco Motor City Pizza Co. 5 Cheese Bread Review

I was very impressed when I tried the Motor City Pizza Co. Double Pepperoni Pizza back in 2022 – it’s the rare frozen pizza that might fool you into thinking you’re eating pizza from a restaurant. I’m also a fan of cheese bread – our family almost always orders some version of it with our pizza, and we eat a lot of pizza! Knowing all of that, you can see why buying this Motor City Pizza Co. 5 Cheese Bread was a no-brainer for me.

Other pizza products from Costco are the Kirkland Signature Pepperoni Pizza, Milton’s Cauliflower Crust Pizza, Kirkland Signature Deluxe Cauliflower Pizza, Sabatasso’s Gluten-Free Four Cheese Pizza, Sabatasso’s Pizza Singles, Kirkland Signature Four Cheese Pizza, Pizza Delight Garlic Cheese Fingers and the Keto Izza.

Location in Store

I bought this in Kalispell, Montana at the Costco and found it in the freezer section. The item number is 1453434.

Cheesy goodness!

Taste

We love to order cheesy bread with our pizza, so I’ve tried a few different kinds and this one is great! If I were doing a blind taste test, I would probably say it came from a restaurant.

Ready to try!

The crust is great. It’s light, crispy on the edges and even the bottom and fluffy and chewy inside. I think the secret must the tray the pizza is baked in. It looks like maybe they put a layer of oil or something in the bottom because the bottom of the pizza and the tray end up looking pretty oily, but it works!

So tasty!

The cheese bread is a bit greasy, but that’s normal for pizza and it doesn’t take away from the positive qualities at all. The topping is very cheesy and garlicky. Some people might prefer a pure cheesy bread without the garlic, but I liked it. The cheeses are pretty mild, but tasty.

Not a thin-crusted cheese bread.

If I had to criticize something, I’d say I probably would’ve preferred a slightly thinner crust, but I don’t feel too strongly about that.

Overall this is an awesome appetizer. You can definitely fool your family and friends into thinking you got takeout!

Cost

There are two trays of cheese bread in the box and I paid $10.99 USD for the two-pound 12.9-ounce box. This isn’t bad considering how big one cheese bread is! We pay a lot more for a way smaller cheese bread from our local pizza takeout place.

Convenience

I love how the cheese bread comes in its own plastic tray to make the crust extra crispy! To cook the pizza bread, you bake it about six to eight inches from the bottom of the oven at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 to 18 minutes. You bake the the pizza bread in the tray it comes in but remove the plastic wrapper.

This is great for game day, any party or just to have as an appetizer, lunch or simple dinner at home! Kids will love this because every kid seems to just like cheese pizza.

The pizza bread needs to be kept frozen and both Sean and I looked and looked and couldn’t find a best-before date.

Ingredients

The ingredients list has a lot of unhealthy ingredients which I expected. Palm oil, corn oil, soybean oil are just a few of the ingredients listed that I don’t like to see. The bread contains wheat and milk but considering it has soybean oil listed it should also say it contains soy.

  1. This cheese bread is our go-to favorite. I like to brush the top of the bread, after cooking, with a mixture of olive oil, minced garlic and Italian seasoning that I heat on the stove to release the garlic and Italian seasoning’s flavor.
I also heat up a bit of bottled pasta sauce for dipping. Yum!
Our Costco does not stock this item but our local Walmart does, just a bit pricier.
