Costco’s muffins are a fan favorite in the bakery section, but their regular size can be a bit overwhelming. These new Kirkland Signature Mini Filled Muffins, however, seem just right for kids or a quick sweet treat for adults. But are they tasty enough to replace the full-sized classics? Keep reading to find out!
Location in Store
The mini muffins are located in the bakery section, near the Kirkland Signature Chocolate Lover’s Cookie Pack and the Kirkland Signature Coffee Cake. The item number is 1932661.
Taste
I tried both the apple caramel and the mix berry filled muffins. I prefer the mixed berry over the apple.
Both the muffins are moist and sweet and are pretty cake-like. Every muffin I’ve tried from Costco is very similar to cake though!
The Apple one has a sweet apple pie filling the caramel isn’t too noticeable. It tastes just like a vanilla cake with an apple pie filling and is pretty sweet. The crumble on top is fine, it just adds some sweetness.
The mixed berry muffin has the same crumble on top. It’s like a vanilla cake with a berry jelly inside. There’s even a bit of seeds in the jelly which makes it tastes more natural! The jelly inside tastes like a combination of raspberry and blackberry.
Cost
There are 18 mini muffins in the package, 12 berry and six apple caramel and I paid $12.99 Canadian for the pack. Although 18 muffins is a lot, they’re not very big and they probably cost very little to make so I wouldn’t say these are cheap.
Convenience
The mini muffins have a best before date that’s three days from the date they were packaged. They’ve previously been frozen but there’s no way we’re eating 18 of these in three days so I put them in my freezer.
These mini muffins contain hazelnut so they’re not school safe but the size makes them perfect for a school or daycare snack! They’re also nice for a small sweet treat with a cup of coffee or tea in the morning or afternoon.
Nutrition
Calories
Four muffins contain 390 calories, 18 grams of fat, 54 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, 35 grams of sugar, five grams of protein and 230 milligrams of sodium. If you only have one muffin that’s about 98 calories and about nine grams of sugar.
Ingredients
The ingredients list is pretty much as you’d expect and full of unhealthy ingredients like rapeseed oil, sugar, “flavour” and additives like trisodium citrate. The mini muffins contain milk, egg, hazelnut and wheat. They may contain other tree nuts, peanuts, soy and sesame.

Overall
Give it a try!
These mini muffins are sweet but are pretty tasty. I don’t love the ingredients list though and try not to eat things like this too often. I prefer the berry ones over the apple but you get more berry than apple in the pack so that works for me!

Very sweet and a cake-like consistency. One of these is a carb choice for diabetics and one is all you really need. These do come in the store previously frozen and listed as such on the label. Not a big fan.
