Costco Kirkland Signature Cinnamon Roll Mini Cake Review

Costco has carried a variety of different flavors of their mini cakes such as carrot, pineapple coconut and raspberry. Now they’ve released these Kirkland Signature Cinnamon Roll Mini Cakes for fall and I think this might be the best flavor yet!

Taste

The cake is sweet with a nice but somewhat mild cinnamon flavor. For some reason, it reminded me a bit of carrot cake. I thought it was interesting that the cake actually has cocoa listed as an ingredient ahead of cinnamon. I couldn’t taste the cocoa in the cake.

The ingredients list shows ingredients for an oat streusel, but I don’t know where it’s used in the mini cakes. My mini cakes were topped with chocolate shavings, so I’m wondering if this was an error.

The icing is pretty sweet, but still has a good cream cheese flavor that goes really well with the cake portion. The flavor of the icing also helps make the mini cakes seem similar to a carrot cake.

I couldn’t really taste the chocolate shavings on the mini cakes unless I really tried, but I think the dusting of cinnamon on top helped enhance the cinnamon flavor.

These are easily the best mini cake flavor Costco has made so far. If you love cinnamon desserts and carrot cake like I do, you’ll love them. If you’re looking for a regular sized cake, I highly suggest the tuxedo cake or the biscoff cream cake.

Cost

Six large cinnamon roll mini cakes cost $13.99 Canadian which isn’t really all that expensive considering how large the cakes are, they don’t seem very mini to me!

Convenience

The best before date is five days from when I purchased them and the mini cakes come packaged in a plastic resealable container. If you’re not going to eat them before they expire you can easily freeze them and they thaw well.

These work well for breakfast, a snack or dessert, they do have a lot of icing so if you’re not big into icing you can always scoop some off.
