Tomorow is my birthday so I’m going to review something fun! The Costco Kirkland Signature Anejo Tequila. I’ve previously reviewed the Kirkland Signature Silver Tequila which is my go to for margaritas but I decided to pick up this amber colored tequila to make golden margaritas and try it to review!

Other fun drinks I’ve reviewed from Costco are the Kirkland Signature Golden Margarita, Kirkland Signature Strawberry Margarita, Kirkland Signature Margarita Mix, Costco bought Pink Whitney and the Costco Kirkland Signature Sangria.

This can be found at your local Costco liquor store and the item number is 1327189.

Taste

This tequila anejo is way stronger tasting and more flavorful than the silver tequila, anejo means the tequila has been aged in oak barrels for at least one year so you get a strong oak flavor and smell. Due to the longer time period the tequila rests in oak is what gives the tequila the amber color.

My husband took one for the team and slowly sipped the tequila on it’s own to get the true flavors. Noticeable smells are agave, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla and of course oak! It tastes pretty much like it smells with a very mild burn and not too much of an aftertaste! This is not a cheap, disgusting, gasoline tasting tequila. We both thought it tasted smooth and like a high quality tequila.

Cost

I paid $43.99 for the 1 litre bottle of tequila. Pretty reasonable considering any tequila isn’t cheap where I’m from.

Convenience

This tequila can be enjoyed straight as a sipping tequila or you can use it to make margaritas or other mixed drinks. The bottle has a convenient cork stopper. The Kirkland Signature Anejo Tequila is way easier to pour than the silver tequila due to it being a smaller size.

Nutrition

All I’m going to say about this is that pure agave tequila has zero carbs due to the distillation process and is also low in sugar. There’s 69 calories in one ounce.

  1. Once again…. jealous…. no liquor in Ontario! I learned about añjeo and reposado tequila in Mexico. The difference between it and the shots of tequila with lime and salt are like comparing cheap whiskey to a single malt scotch. I like my añjeo straight up in a brandy snifter and no mix! That’s sacrilege lol 😝!!
    Cheers 🥂

    • Sounds like you’d be fun to hangout with in Mexico! Tequila is my favorite (my go-to is margaritas) so I enjoy reviewing all the different tequila Costco carries.

  2. Just brought a bottle for about $25 in Kapolei, HI. I am pleasantly surprised that it is tasty on the rocks! Too bad you can’t buy liquor in grocery stores in NY State.
