I’ve reviewed many similar breaded chicken products from Costco like the Kirkland Signature Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast Chunks, Hampton House Chicken Strips, Janes Whole Wheat Chicken Strips, Hampton House Chicken Nuggets, Sunrise Farms Chicken Ham & Swiss Breaded Chicken Breast, Hampton House Popcorn Chicken, Pinty’s Buffalo Chicken Flings and the Pinty’s Eatwell BBQ Chicken Tenders.

Location in Store

I bought these in Kona, Hawaii and the item number is 1450796. You can find them in the freezer section of Costco.

Golden brown and crispy!

Taste

I like these chicken breast chunks and feel they’re pretty comparable to the Kirkland Signature Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast Chunks. The chunks are seasoned well and definitely taste on the saltier side.

Just a kids dream meal!

The breaded isn’t thick like it can be on some breaded chicken products and the actual chicken itself is good quality. Some breaded chicken products have more breading than actual meat, but not these, there’s lots of meat and not much breading. It’s all white meat and the chunks come in all different shapes and sizes.

All white chicken breast meat.

Because the chunks don’t have much flavor other than saltiness, they’re really versatile and can be used in a variety of ways.

Cost

The four pound bag of chicken chunks costs $18.89 US dollars which isn’t cheap but it’s not outrageous for such a large sized bag.

Convenience

There are oven, air fryer and microwave heating instructions for the chicken chunks on the bag. Our AirBnB didn’t have an air fryer, so I baked the chunks in the oven and they turned out perfectly crispy. Personally, I wouldn’t microwave the chunks because I think they’d likely turn out pretty soggy. The chicken is already fully cooked so you’re really just heating the chicken chunks.

The best before date on the bag is about 10 months from when we purchased it and the chicken needs to be kept frozen. . You could use the chunks to make tacos, a stir-fry or a sandwich, have them in a salad or serve them as an appetizer with a dipping sauce.

Nutrition

Calories

A three ounce or 84 gram serving contains 160 calories, seven grams of fat, 540 milligrams of sodium, nine grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fiber, two grams of sugar and 16 grams of protein.

I think they provided the nutrition facts by weight instead of number of chicken chunks because they’re all different shapes and sizes. I’m actually not surprised there’s a lot of sodium because the first thing I noticed was how salty these tasted.

Ingredients

I’m a little disappointed that the seasoning has sugar listed as the first ingredient in it. The breading has sugar in it too. Additionally, I don’t love that there’s canola oil, vegetable oil and soybean oil in the chunks.

Just a note, the Bare Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast Chunks have pretty much the same ingredients list as the Kirkland Signature Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast Chunks. The chicken is from chickens raised without any antibiotics or added steroids.

Overall

Give it a try!

I like how versatile these are and how they’re meatier than chicken strips or nuggets. I do just wish they were a tad less salty and didn’t contain sugar.
