Sweet, salty and fresh tasting Korean barbecue pork jerky from Costco!
Hello jerky lovers! Today I’m reviewing something I’ve seen carried at Costco for such a long time but just haven’t ever picked it up to review. The Golden Island Korean Barbecue Pork Jerky!
I have already reviewed the Costco Kirkland Signature Turkey Jerky and the Costco Kirkland Signature Steak Strips so now I decided it’s time to review the Korean Island pork jerky!
The korean barbecue pork jerky can be found in the snack section near the front of Costco with the granola bars and chocolates. The item number is 323944.
Taste
I’ll be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of jerky so I got Sean to give me his opinion on the pork jerky because he is a fan of jerky and will eat it as a snack. I tried a little as well but am a bit biased!
This is good! It’s sweet with a pleasent soy sauce flavor and a hint of sesame. The sesame is less noticeable than the sweetness and soy sauce. The jerky isn’t spicy despite chili powder on the ingredients list.
The texture is nice and chewy but not hard or tough and the jerky also tasted quite fresh. The slices of jerky are quite thin and small and there is a bunch of teeny tiny pieces in the bag that are almost like crumbs. The meat seems to be decent quality without any gristle.
Cost
I paid $15.69 Canadian for the 410 gram bag of pork jerky.
Convenience
The jerky comes in a resealable bag with a best before date of about eight months from the date we purchased it. It has a packet enclosed in the bag to help maintain freshness. The bag also states jerky should be consumed or refrigerated within three days of opening the jerky.
Jerky is an awesome, easy snack to bring on a road trip, camping or to the lake or beach!
Nutrition
One 28 grams piece is 100 calories, two and a half grams of fat, 360 mg of sodium, 10 grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, 10 grams of sugar and eight grams of protein.
The jerky is gluten-free and contains no nitrites. So yeah jerky is not the healthiest thing you could be eating but at least it has more protein than a cupcake!
Scoring

Curious why you gave it a 6/10 for cost, I thought the price is GREAT!
I love the korean bbq jerky but found 1/4 to 1/2 the bag to be crumbled wasn’t too impressed with that.love the taste but probably won’t buy again as i was looking for bigger pieces and not crumbs
I typically buy a bag of Golden Island at each Costco trip. I like the sweeter taste and consistency of the product. I have not run into any gristle and the pieces are easy to snack on. It’s very good and may be Jack’s best product.
I love but there’s too much to eat in 3 days!!!
.I also am not a real jerky fan, I find it usually too tough and chewy. This pork jerky is the best I have ever eaten. I always have some on hand for snacking and when I need more protein in my diet. I give this a 10 out of 10.
