Costco Clean Naturally Chicken Sausages Review

Sausages are a pretty convenient, protein-packed food that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch or dinner! However, sausages don’t have the greatest reputation when it comes to being healthy. These Clean Naturally Chicken Sausages from Costco are made with 100% chicken breast and natural ingredients. Are these as healthy and tasty as they sound or is too good to be true?

Other sausages from Costco are the Kirkland Signature Beef Polish Sausages, Amylu Paleo Chicken Sausages, Connie’s Kitchen Feta and Spinach Chicken Sausages, Greenfield Natural Meat Co. Breakfast Sausage Rounds, Sabatino’s Paleo Organic Chicken Sausage, Kirkland Signature Brats, Smokey River Meat Company Turkey Breakfast Sausage and the Kirkland Signature Beef Wieners.

Location in Store

The clean chicken sausages are located in the refrigerated deli section near the cold cuts and cheese, the item number is 1750342.

Taste

The first thing I noticed is that the casing was pretty thick when I had to cut apart two of the sausages before putting them on the grill, but I didn’t find it too bad when I was eating the sausages. It’s a little chewy, but I’ve had worse.

The flavor of the sausages is pretty nice. It’s mild with some sweetness and some smokiness. I wouldn’t say the red pepper or mozzarella are noticeable even though there are visible chunks of pepper in the sausages. The flavor of the sausages is pretty versatile. I don’t think they seem out of place at breakfast or served on a bun as a hot dog.

I didn’t expect to like these sausages as much as I did. The casing is a bit chewy, but they’re really tasty and could be used in a lot of different ways.

Cost

There are sixteen sausages in the pack and I paid $18.99 Canadian. The sausages are packaged in fours. That’s over a dollar per sausage so I wouldn’t say these are cheap but since they’re marketed as “clean” I wouldn’t say they’re totally overpriced either.

Convenience

You just have to heat the sausages as they’re already fully-cooked. The package comes with instructions on how to microwave or grill them. . I recommend grilling them to get a nice crispness and sear on the outside! If you’re short on time you could totally microwave them.

The sausages have a best before date that’s about six weeks from when I purchased them. If you’re not going to use them by the expiry date you can freeze them. I think these work fine as a hot dog in a bun but you could ask have them for breakfast with eggs or as a main with a side salad or rice.

Nutrition

Calories

One sausage contains 150 calories, eight grams of fat, two grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, one gram of sugar, 17 grams of protein and 620 milligrams of sodium. They’re very low in carbs, sugar and calories and have a decent amount of protein! The only negative is how much sodium one sausage contains.

Ingredients

I love how simple the ingredients list is! There’s just a few simple ingredients and none of them are really unhealthy except for the cane sugar. The sausages contain milk from the cheese and may contain wheat, soy and egg.

  1. Clean Naturally Chicken Sausages from Costco are way too salty. I bought them in Costco recently, and taste overall was not too bad, but because this sausages are so overloaded with sodium 620 mg ( 27%) per one sausage, I just couldnt eat them.

  2. Thanks for taking the time to write the review. I try to use my air fryer as much as possible. Any idea how long they showed be fryed? Why not remove the casing if it’s not great?
