Finding chips or crackers without seed oils can be a challenge, but these Cedar Valley Herb & Garlic Pita Chips from Costco are a great solution. They’re made with coconut oil instead of seed oils, and they’re also free from preservatives, sugar, and dairy! They seem like the ideal snack for health-conscious individuals, but how do they actually taste?
Location in Store
You can find these pita chips in the chip/pretzel/popcorn section at Costco, near the Kirkland Signature Kettle Brand Himalayan Krinkle Cut Potato Chips and the Boom Chicka Pop Sea Salt Popcorn. The item number is 1864895.
Taste
These pita chips are pretty good, they’re nice and thick and fairly crunchy. They’d work well with a hummus or tzatziki. They’re quite seasoned with a strong herb flavor but not overly seasoned. The herbs that I taste the most are oregano and rosemary.
I notice a few of the chips taste saltier than others but not super salty. Although these are sturdy enough for any kind of dip I think you’d have to be careful about what dip you pair it with due to how strong the herbs are. There’s no dairy or cheese on the pita chips but the yeast in the recipe give a hint of cheesy flavor.
Cost
The 545 gram bag costs only $8.99 Canadian which seems really reasonable to me!
Convenience
The bag is resealable which will help the pita chips stay fresh until the best before date which is 11 months from when I purchased them. These work well as an appetizer or as a side with a sandwich or as a light lunch with veggies and dip! I think the flavor was a little too strong for my toddler to enjoy these.
Nutrition
Calories
15 pita chips contains 160 calories, six grams of fat, 22 grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, zero grams of sugar, four grams of protein and 320 milligrams of sodium. One pita chip is pretty large so 160 calories for 15 seems really reasonable!
Ingredients
The ingredients list is short and sweet with wheat, coconut oil, dehydrated garlic, herbs, yeast and sea salt being the ingredients. The pita chips do not contain any seed oils, added sugar, preservatives and are plant based.

Overall
Give it a try!
I find the flavor of the herbs pretty strong so I can only eat a few of these at a time but I like the crunchy texture and find them satisfying!
FAQ
No they’re not, they contain wheat but they are dairy-free.
$8.99 Canadian, pretty cheap!
They don’t have seed oils, sugar, have no preservatives and are plant-based so I think they’re pretty healthy for a chip/cracker!

We tried these and they are OKbut sadly nowhere near as good as Staceys which sadly Costco (at least in my area) have stopped selling.
My local Costco in BC had these in plain and holy moly, these are addictive! I am not a big fan of coconut oil and was a bit uneasy that taste would shine through but it did not. These are a great find if other chips or pita are boring.
I love the Cedar Valley plain pita chips and have been buying them since I first heard about them over a year ago. Live in Ottawa.
