This review is for all my keto, low-carb people! Full disclosure: I’m a carb loving girl so I definitely can’t say I’m on a keto diet or even a low-carb diet. I do however respect those who are on the keto diet or that are trying to lower their carb intake so today I’m reviewing the Costco Carbonaut Low Carb Multigrain and White Keto Bread.

If you’re currently following the keto diet, add this product to your low-carb Costco shopping list!

This can be found with all the other bread at Costco and the item number for the multigrain bread is 1494429. The item number for the white bread is 1565961.

Taste

Alright so here’s my honest opinion about this product. It’s not that bad! Honestly it’s not as awful tasting as I expected it to be. It actually does resemble bread and tastes slightly similar. There are a few things I’ll point out though.

Multigrain Bread

First of all the bread is very soft and spongey, even toasted. Basically I could roll this up and make a little ball with it so the texture is definitely different than regular bread. Also both my husband and I noticed it had a bitter aftertaste that lingers in your mouth. I’m not sure where that’s coming from but it was noticeable.

The seeds on the outside are great because it makes it seem more like normal bread and also adds some extra crunchy texture. I wouldn’t choose that over regular bread but if I were on a keto diet this would probably taste amazing. Especially turned into a grilled cheese or slathered with butter.

White Bread

To try the white bread I toasted it and put a little butter on top. The first thing that I noticed is that the bread is quite light when you compare it to normal bread. It toasts nicely though and can almost pass for normal bread/toast.

Toasted with butter – this is the white bread

There’s the same slight bitterness in the white bread that there is in the multigrain bread that I notice after chewing for a few seconds. The bitterness is less noticeable than it is for most keto bread products. The flavor of the white bread reminds me of the flavor of The Grain Escape Gluten-Free Buns I also reviewed.

Cost

I paid $8.99 Canadian for both the bag of Costco Multigrain and White Carbonaut Low Carb, Keto Bread. You get two loaves in the bag, each loaf is 544 grams.

This isn’t that expensive considering how much some keto products cost!

Convenience

I popped my bread into the freezer as soon as I brought it home and it freezes well. The best before date on the bread is about a week from the date I purchased the bread.

This can be toasted and makes a great bread option for those who are on keto or are following a low-carb diet.

Overall

Give it a try!

This bread is probably amazing for those who are on a strict keto diet. I didn’t love the taste (the texture and bitter aftertaste are my main complaints) but that’s most likely because I eat regular bread all the time! I’d say if you’re really watching your carbs or are on keto, give this a try.

Have you tried these breads? What did you think of them?

  1. I am not a bread eater so I caim no expertise. What I can say is the taste is really good, texture is great and as a no bread person it has won me over
I now have a sandwich instead of just meat and cheeses
Count me in and please keep it in stock

  2. I love this bread and I hope Costco continues to carry it. Would love to try the hot dog and hamburger buns too. But I won’t pay Amazon prices! Far better than the Aldi Keto offerings.

  3. I was so thrilled to find this bread at Costco. Not a bad product, but I still prefer my keto homemade bread. If you’re looking for a fantastic, blow your mind recipe, try this one. Great for bread machines, or using a stand mixer.

  4. I love this bread! I mean if you’re on a low carb/keto diet and can’t have regular bread at all, this is the closest you’ll get to “Wonder Bread”. I got the Plain White Gluten Free variety (no seeds) and love it! I eat my low-carb dinner with grilled chicken and vegetables, and have a slice or two of this with Kerrygold. Can’t wait to try the Raisin Bread and the rolls/buns. I have tried to bake different keto/low carb breads, and none ever come out tasting this good!

  5. Awful “bread”. My husband eats almost anything and he did not want anymore after day two, toasted for breakfast. I had one piece and did not enjoy at all.

  6. Bought this at Costco. One word – vile. There are so many good low carb/keto breads out there that you can pass. On this one. Spongy texture, sour taste – nothing to like or love about it.

    • You must be kidding. Give me one example of a better one. Do you run a keto store with overpriced items in Walnut Grove? Sure sound like a bitter competitor.

  7. I love this bread and have several loaves in my freezer. It’s the sesame seeds that give it the delicious taste. I double toast it to get rid of the softness. Good with eggs, grilled cheese or in a sandwich. But always double toasted for me.

  8. This bread is the best low carb keto certified bread I’ve had. Will definitely buy again. Toasts well, makes great french toast and grilled cheese. Price point is awesome at 2 loaves for $8.99 at Costco. Hope Costco carries more varieties, I see there is also a raisin bread with only 2 net carbs per slice!

  9. Just so you know this is not a Costco bread. You can buy this bread in other grocery stores. I can get it at my local grocery store here, Sprouts Farmers Market. It’s not even an American bread. It’s Canadian. Not Costco.

    • Ya, like Save 0n foods or other grocery stores – AT TWICE THE PRICE!. Until now we have been using Red Square Keto bread and other products which are really, really excellent. They can be bought in South Vancouver direct from the bakery. We have cut our runs into town to Red Square down as now we have a great keto bread at a decent price available at Costco. I prefer it to the Red Square breads but my wife like Red Square a bit better. Red square has ket bakery items to kill for which so far Costco hasn’t come up with.

      • I just bought it at Safeway last Tuesday for $5.99/loaf on sale. The regular price is $6.99/loaf. Looks like Safeway has the best price of all the stores.

    • According to people on this thread, they’re buying this bread at Costco. One even posted pictures of the loaves and price paid at Costco

  10. I was very happy that I found this bread in Costco. I am a low carb lifestyle follower and this is one of the best tasting and best price product. Love the taste and texture.

  11. The texture is nice, but we did not like the flavour. And it smells bad when being toasted. I will finish the loaf with lots of pb and j. I will stick with making buns with Fatboy dough.

  12. This bread is quite good for low carb bread. i have made a lot of low carb breads including yeast breads and none of them were as good as this bread. I have only tried the seeded bread and would like to try the white one although looking at the ingredient list it looks about the same except for a few seeds.

  15. I’m so happy to find this bread!! It does well toasted and holds sandwich ingredients well! I don’t have to keep making my own bread only- though the “Keto bread mix 1.0” is good also . The Carbonaut is more typically bread-like.

  16. I’m loving the carbonaut bread – for a low carb bread option the price point is great. Since I am not a big bread eater to begin with, I don’t mind the taste. It toasts up nicely too!
