Costco Brazi Bites Blueberry Waffles Review

Frozen waffles are a quick and convenient breakfast, but finding gluten-free options that actually taste good, without being packed with artificial flavors and unhealthy ingredients, can be tough. That’s why I was excited to try these Brazi Bites Blueberry Waffles. They’re gluten-free and have a short, simple ingredients list. As someone who follows a gluten-free diet regularly, I was curious to see how they would stack up in terms of flavor.

Location in Store

The Brazi Bites waffles can be found in the freezer section near the Premier Protein Pancakes and the Eat-In Spinach, Feta & Sundried Tomato Wrap. The item number is 1891411.

Taste

I thought these might be really sweet or artificial tasting but they’re not, they’re actually really enjoyable! They’re soft and flavorful with a hint of non-artificial blueberry flavor and have real blueberries throughout the waffles. To get them nice and crispy I recommend heating them twice in the toaster.

They’re not very sweet at all and you can’t tell that they’re gluten-free. I think a lot of people might steer clear of these thinking they taste like cardboard due to them being gluten-free but they’re actually quite tasty and a good option if you like blueberry waffles.

Cost

The box comes with three packs of eight waffles, a total of 24 waffles and costs $17.99 Canadian which is quite expensive! I think you’re definitely paying for the fact they’re gluten-free.

Convenience

The best before date is and the waffles need to be kept frozen. They’re packaged in three packs of eight and once you open a pack there’s no way to reseal it so I pop the opened bag of waffles into a large ziplock.

My toddler enjoys these just plain but you could also have them with nut butter, Greek yogurt for additional protein or classic butter and syrup. They’re nut-free so that makes them ideal for school/daycare.

Nutrition

Calories

Two waffles contain 190 calories, seven grams of fat, 25 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, eight grams of sugar, five grams of protein and 340 milligrams of sodium. My toddler will only eat one waffle so that’s only four grams of sugar which I like. Of course if you smother the waffles in syrup there will be a lot more sugar!

Ingredients

I appreciate that they don’t use artificial blueberries and use whole frozen blueberries. The waffles smell really strongly like artificial blueberry so I do query whether the “natural flavor” in them is contributing to that artificial blueberry smell! I don’t love that there’s canola oil in the waffles but I like that there’s no sugar added! The waffles contain egg and milk.
