Comforting and convenient shrimp wonton soup from Costco

Whenever it starts to get chilly outside all I seem to want to eat is comfort food! Soup is a favorite and has been ever since I was a kid.
I grew up eating soup regularly for lunch and now as an adult I find I regularly crave it. One of my favorite kinds of soup is definitely Won Ton Soup. I could not possibly go for Chinese food and not order Won Ton Soup.
This Costco Authentic Asia Hand Wrapped Shrimp Wonton Soup is super delicious. The broth is your typical nicely seasoned, salty Won Ton soup broth. I could definitely taste a lot of garlic which I enjoyed but I know there are people who despise garlic. Despite having shrimp wontons the broth does not have a fishy taste at all. You get 5 shrimp wontons in each bowl which is very generous considering the bowls aren’t that big. The wonton wrapping is tasty and soft. The shrimp inside the wontons are full sized shrimp that are not rubbery or super soft, just nice and firm. I really enjoyed the taste of this soup. Also my husband generally does not eat or like shrimp and even he enjoyed this soup.
You get six 145 gram microwaveable bowls for $14.99 Canadian. If you get them on sale you can find these for $10.99. I was lucky enough to get them on sale and I feel the cost is reasonable but slightly expensive when not on sale. I think you’re definitely paying for the packaging and convenience with these. They come in their own little individual plastic bowls that you easily microwave. I put my bowls through the dishwasher after using them and they make awesome containers to bring food to work in. Honestly don’t throw these out, they last really well and are durable.
The soups are so convenient, you just open them up frozen, fill with water to the water line and heat them in the microwave. I love being able to have wonton soup anytime I and like how I don’t have to worry about the expiry because they’re frozen. These make a wonderful soup to bring to work, you can also add things like spinach or steamed carrots to the soup to give it some vegetables.
The Costco Authentic Asian Hand Wrapped Shrimp Wonton Soup is low in calories, fat, fibre and sugar and HIGH in sodium. One soup has 740mg of sodium! That is basically half the daily recommended daily amount of sodium. If you’re not watching your sodium and drinking water this is probably not a big deal but if you’re cautious about the amount of sodium you consume you may want to consider other options. It has a reasonable amount of protein for a soup, eight grams per bowl.
Overall I really enjoyed having this wonton soup and am looking forward to using the rest of my bowls up. I would probably repurchase this again, especially if it were on sale. The taste and convenience factor is great but the cost and amount of sodium are slightly high for my liking.
Taste: 9/10
Cost: 7/10
Nutrition: 8/10 (as long as you’re not watching your sodium)
Convenience: 10/10
I gave this soup an excellent review. I bought more of them and what I have found is that not all the bowls have 5 wontons as advertized on their box. Some had 4 and one I had thus far had only 3.
I love this soup! I eat it for Breakfast. I add a dash of Sesame Oil to it. Would love to fine a recipe for the broth. My main purchase, when I go to Coscos.
This is my favourite product from Costco. The broth is flavourful and has a rich sesame and garlic flavour. The shrimp filled wontons are plump and juicy. You can always add a bit more water if you find it on the salty side. It’s a quick and easy lunch or a great addition to dinner as well. I like to reuse the plastic containers too.
How can I order this product?
Where do I order Authentic Asia Shrimp Wonton Soup with Noodles?
If you go to their website they have a link to direct people to where they can buy the product.
Tastes like Salt broth, gave the rest I had away, not a fan, waste of money
I AM GOING TO BLOW YOUR MINDS & make you sad in 1 post…
So, YES, love the product, hated the wasted plastic so I kept the plastic so as to not waste. BUT folks I took one more step with this product & was obsessed…
Before I tell you what I did as an alternative to soup… I am going to say that my last few trips to Costco, the product was GONE! I heard it’s no longer going to be sold at Costco?! Not sure what to do with that. Called company, no answer…
If any of you still have this soup in your freezer… if you want to mix it up a little one day, this was super yummy.
Step 1 – defrost soup
Step 2 – pour out the liquid (that’s right, say goodbye to soup tonight)
Step 3 – mix oil, spicy mayonnaise, kimchee sauce, Mints kitchen shrimp chili sauce (or choose your own combination of sauces)
Step 4 – on the stove, place noodles, shrimp, thick slices tomatoes, and your sauce – cook medium heat for about 6-8 minutes – DELISH!!!!
I live in Maryland and it is on sale – $3.50 off until Feb 11, 2024
I just opened one of these from my box. The rest so far have been shrimp wonton, but this ons is definitely chicken noodle. Has this happened to anyone else?
never happened to me? sorry! that sucks you never got to try the shrimp version
Well by it’s self it was bland blah. But I made extra Roman noodles and mixed it and put the chicken seasoning in it all together and it tastes great! Just need some flavor in chicken bouillon or shrimp bouillon and hot spice if you want it spicy!! Love it!!!
if you ever have chance to get this product again, see my post from today on how I chose to make this after being bored of the soup…. im obsessed only to learn it’s no longer being sold to costco
Funny you say that,It’s March 2nd and I just purchased the soup today.?!
Costco’s frozen foods are pretty hit or miss (mostly miss). This item is one of the best items IMHO. I use Costco Organic Chicken Broth instead of water, and add white pepper at the end. We like to have it on hand for quick meals.
I really like this but I add some Better Than Bouillon, soy sauce, chopped green onions, and pepper before microwaving. Delicious!
Great idea for the extra add ins!
Can’t find it at Costco Seattle. Could you guy delivery it?
Sorry I just review the foods Costco sells, I cannot ship it.
Love this soup as would add a veg at times. The broth is delicate & delicious as is! The won ton wrapped prawns perfect.
I can’t find it here in Gig Harbor WA. They used to carry it and now it has been gone for over a year. Please Costco PNW management, bring this Authentic Asia Won Ton Soup back.🙏🏼
This is one of the most disgusting things I have even eaten. No one should ever buy this. I am so upset that I even spent any money on it. They have a chicken ramen that is 5 dollars cheaper and is a million times better. Please if you value eating good food do not ever waist your money on this.
Can i find this in stores in Montreal area. Or can it be delivered.
Thank you
Should be in stores!
They where ok I feel like I would like it more if I added veggies the broth didn’t taste like anything to me and made my stomach hurt
I AND WOULD LIKE MORE. WAS GIVEN 3 AND HAVE JUST FINISHED THE LAST ONE. I DO NOT HAVE A COSCO CARD.I WOULD LIKE MORE. CAN THEY BE BOUGHT ELSEWHERE PLEASE. DELICIOUS

why costco stop selling thís..? can not find in Costco Toronto
It’s sold only at certain times of the year. I just went to look and it is not in stock yet. I buy like 10 boxes when I find it! I could eat this 3x a day except in the summer!
This is my go-to meal when I work late and want a fast light meal. I add Julienne cut carrots, zucchini, and mushrooms to mine. I add a little sesame oil at the end. I agree it’s a little salty.
As for the plastic bowl, I save them and reuse them when I want to bring lunch to work, picnic, or beach outings.
I save all of mine too! They’re so convenient to keep.
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU BUT CAN’T EVEN FIND SOMEONE TO SHIP IT! If I can have dog food shipped completely frozen from across the country then why cant we get food in a remote Colorado?
a Plastic container for just 4 wontons? Way too much plastic used. I won’t buy this again! Too much plastic and overkill on packaging!
U can reuse the containers
tasteless
Did you add too much water to your bowl? I like it with a little less water.
I definitely might have! I always tend to do that with soup.
More for me!
I’ve been wondering about this soup! Thanks for the review!
Can someone tell me if the shrimp wonton soup contains onions
It does.
Goood but I find that the broth only tastes like shrimp,
