Chicken wings are a favorite snack, appetizer, and meal across North America, celebrated for their versatility. Whether crispy, crunchy, saucy, seasoned, or a mix of all these qualities, they’re always a crowd-pleaser. I only recently discovered my love for wings, and when I came across Olympic Craft Meats Southern Crunch Chicken Wings at Costco, I knew I had to try them. I was expecting a delicious, finger-licking crunch, did they live up to the hype?
Location in Store
These are located in the freezer aisle at Costco near the Kirkland Signature Frozen Chicken Breasts and the Pinty’s Crispy Chicken Wings. The item number is 2544848.
Taste
I baked the wings in my oven and they still came out soggy even though I cooked them for much longer than the bag recommends. They’re pretty fatty and not as crispy as they could be. I also notice they feel and taste pretty greasy.
The breading is quite salty and has the slightest hint of spice but is fairly tasty. There’s quite a bit of breading on each wing so even though the wings are in general soggy, the breading gives them still a bit of crunch. There’s a decent amount of meat on the wings but there’s also a lot of breading.
I’ve definitely had better wings, the quality of meat isn’t great and the breading is kind of heavy and soggy despite appearing crunchy. Part of this is probably due to heating the wings in the oven versus the air fryer.
Cost
The two kilogram bag costs $25.99 Canadian and there aren’t as many wings in the bag as you may think there’d be! This is because each wing is heavily breaded and they’re quite large.
Convenience
The wings need to be kept frozen and have a best before date that’s about 10 months from when I purchased them. These work well as an appetizer, snack, lunch or even dinner! I recommend grabbing your favorite sauce for the wings since they’re a bit dry without any dip.
There are air fryer and conventional oven heating instructions on the bag and the wings are already fully cooked so you’re essentially just heating them up. They come in a resealable bag with a pull tab so you can easily store them in your freezer.
Nutrition
Calories
Three wings contain 220 calories, 13 grams of fat, nine grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, one gram of sugar, 15 grams of protein and 540 milligrams of sodium. I honestly thought there’d be more carbohydrates and calories in three wings
Ingredients
The first ingredient is chicken which I like seeing! The other ingredients are actually pretty simple and I want to point out this is not the unhealthiest ingredients list I’ve ever seen! The wings contain soy and wheat and are dairy free.

Walk on by!
I wanted to love these wings but sadly find they fall short in a lot of areas. I’ve had better wings from Costco like the Kirkland Signature Seasoned Chicken Wings and probably wouldn’t buy these again.
Have you tried these Costco Olympic Craft Meats Southern Crunch Chicken Wings? What did you think of them?
