Pizza is definitely one of my all time favorite foods. How about you?

My husband can be kind of picky when it comes to food sometimes. He decides when he likes a certain food and decides when he doesn’t like a certain food and it’s really hard to change his opinion either way. For example let’s say he decided when he was eight years old he didn’t like Shepherd’s Pie, now as an adult he can’t actually remember really even trying it in the past and disliking it but if I suggest we pick one up it’s like nooo way “I don’t like Shepherd’s Pie”. This is how he was with Costco take and bake pizza. I suggest we pick one up to take home but nope. It’s either restaurant pizza or delivery but no taking and baking. Until now.
Taste
I didn’t think the Costco Kirkland Signature Pizza would taste as good as it does to be honest. The four meat pizza has meatballs, pepperoni, salami and sausage on it. The meat is beef and pork so for those who don’t eat pork be aware there’s pork on this. The crust although a little hard and crispy on the ends was soft in the middle of the pizza and quite tasty. It’s a thinner crust so if you’re all about thick crust pizza this might not be for you. My favorite meat on the pizza was the meatballs but I didn’t find any of the meat unappealing. There’s not a ton of sauce of the pizza and it’s not overly cheesy mozzarella and parmesan are listed on the ingredients. I feel there’s an adequate amount of sauce and cheese when I take into account the cost of the pizza. The sauce is a typical tomato sauce with a hint of garlic. Overall this is a pretty tasty pizza. Maybe not as good as real-deal homemade or restaurant pizza but pretty good! I will say that there definitely wasn’t any shortage of meat on the pizza.
Cost
I purchased the pizza on sale for $8.99 Canadian, the regular price of the pizza not on sale is $10.99 Canadian. On sale, this is a steal of a deal considering this pizza is HUGE! You could definitely feed a family of four with one pizza. Even at $10.99 it’s a very reasonable price, especially when I consider how much meat was on the pizza. A lot of restaurants and delivery places skimp on the toppings but there was an abundance of meat.
Convenience
The Costco Kirkland Four Meat Pizza can be found in the deli pre-made refrigerated section. I can see why people buy these, they’re probably hungry after work or whatever they did all day and see this as the perfect way to make a quick and easy dinner. The pizza is ready to pop in the oven so that makes this a super convenient option at Costco. HOWEVER, I have to tell you. If you have a smaller fridge, or a fridge with a lot of different small compartments, this is almost impossible to fit in the fridge. I had to basically shove it in my fridge and angle it just perfectly on top of other items so that my doors with shelves would close. If you plan to make the pizza right away or have a massive fridge this won’t be a problem. This also won’t be a problem if it’s -40 degrees Celsius outside and you have a garage you can store this in. I was a little scared it wouldn’t fit inside my oven but it did.
Nutrition
Nutritionally 1/8 of the pizza is 390 calories, 16 grams of fat, 1330mg of sodium (ouch) and 23 grams of protein. MAN that’s a lot of sodium! Obviously pizza is not the healthiest choice and the sodium is probably coming from all the delicious meat they pile on. If you’re seriously watching your sodium due to something like congestive heart failure (it’s the nurse in me) then I’d steer clear of this. Otherwise just try not to consume as much and drink lots of water!
I wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase this pizza for a night where I feel like having pizza but don’t feel like paying restaurant or delivery prices. This was easy to bake in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes. It sliced easily and I froze the leftovers and they defrosted just fine. I just wish I had a bigger fridge to store my pizza in if I’m not making it the same night! One blog reader informed me she slices hers up prior to baking it and then bakes the slices. I think that’s so smart!

Attention, Sandy Jackson-Bailey, Costco makes their own pizza, and they even have their own robotic sauce applying machine, for putting the sauce on evenly! (As the circular dough crust spins. Someone there was pulling your leg. (The pizzas are not frozen. BTW: Kirkland frozen cheese pizzas suck!) I’ve seen YouTube videos of Costco staff making the pizzas. They also put a whole pound of cheese on each pizza they make.
fyi: I have bought the pepperoni pizza at the food court, and although I haven’t bought it, I was told by the food court staff that the 4 pack Kirkland pizza in the frozen food section is what they use.
Our costcos have not had pizza for at least the past 4 months….:-(
Very high In salt! Have you ever tried buying the cheese pizza and adding your own veggies before baking?
I really wish they would make a vegetarian version of this pizza. That should significantly reduce the salt numbers which are high enough to kill off an entire family.
