For Mother’s and Father’s Day Sean and I had our parents over for dinner and we picked up the Costco Caesar Salad to serve. Today I’m reviewing the Costco Kirkland Signature Caesar Salad found in the pre-made meal/deli section!
Taste
This is really delicious Caesar salad! The Caesar Salad kit contains romaine lettuce, croutons, cheese, two packets of salad dressing and two lemon wedges. The romaine was very fresh and crisp and I didn’t find any brown pieces. There was a ton of parmesan cheese in the kit (Costco definitely didn’t skimp on the cheese). For those that dislike parmesan, it’s not a very strong, pungent parmesan cheese, it’s mild and combines perfectly with the dressing and croutons. The croutons are very crispy, crunchy and a little hard (which is what I like). I believe they’re made from rye bread and are not heavily seasoned or salty. The dressing is your typical Caesar salad dressing, not too fishy and nothing fancy or unique about it, just a standard dressing. Costco gives you TWO large packets of dressing and to be very honest, I only used one. I feel like if I put both packets of dressing on the salad I would have had an overly soggy, heavily dressed salad. I squeezed both lemon wedges on the salad which added a slight lemon freshness. Overall this was very tasty and was enjoyed by the entire family.
Cost
The cost of the Caesar Salad was $8.96 Canadian, not on sale. In my eyes, this is very reasonable. It fed seven adults a big bowl of salad each as an appetizer. At my local grocery store, I’ve seen small bags of Caesar Salad mix for more than half of what this Kirkland Signature Caesar Salad cost.
Convenience
This was incredibly convenient! All I had to do was pour the dressing and croutons on top and toss the salad. Here’s a hint! The salad comes in a big plastic container with a lid on it, if you don’t feel like doing a lot of tossing. Simply put the lid on the salad after pouring the dressing and croutons on top and shake it up! This works incredibly well.
Nutrition
1/8th of the huge salad is 200 calories, 16 grams of fat, 290 mg of sodium, five grams of protein, two grams of fibre, 11 grams of carbs and two grams of sugar. If you don’t use all the salad dressing you’ll decrease the amount of fat and calories.
I’ll definitely purchase this salad again next time I’m hosting a barbecue. The price is just right and it tastes great.

What’s your favorite kind of salad to have in the summer time?
200 calories, impossible, the dressings is at least 120 calories and the cheese an extra 150 to 200 calories….
Unless she scraped every bit of cheese off the top, parmesan is only about 22 calories per tablespoon.
I’ve had half the Caesar salad as our main course, with 4 oz of rotisserie Chicken breast on the side. I would have liked another wedge of fresh lemon and a slightly thinner dressing. Tonight I will thin it with a few tablespoons of bottled lemon and one of water.
Hi
I too wondered about the ingredients in the Caesar Dressing…kinda sorry I looked at the label above ..lots of stuff in it we should NOT be eating…especially if you have any kind of heart or health or other issues. They do it to preserve it!! Read what’s in it! There are other recipes on line you can make that are easy too. I am also very disappointed in the romane turning brown the 2nd day!! My husband and I used to have it for 3 days and now lucky if we get two out of it. Just bought one yesterday too. 🙁 I will look at Marie’s Caesar dressing and check it out! So we will use our apple cider vinegar and olive oil until I find a replacement.
I too am a fan of apple cider vinegar and olive oil!
I used to love this salad until I bought my third one and on day 2 of having the salad it was slimy and I had to throw the whole thing out after only eating 2 helpings. The sell by date was the day after I had to throw it out…brown, gross, disgusting… also do not buy your fresh fruit from them as mine all went moldy in 1 DAY! I’ve been a member for a long time and this is causing me to stop shipping there along with their gas prices which are only 2-8 cents cheaper than nearby stations…HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!
I am curious about what the calories would be without the croutons. If possible what is the calories for: Just dressing and Just croutons
Thank you!
I purchased a Costco Ceaser Salad from the back of the Costco store because we Always eat at the food court after we shop & although I LOVE the Pizza, it has a Lot of Calories. The Hot Dog is great too & I ask for saurkraut, but again it’s like 300 Calories… or more.
This salad is a BIG SALAD (Seinfeld reference). I ate only maybe 1/2 & 1/3 of the dressing & no croutons. This will be my lunch for 3-4 days! So it’s a Great option and my husband could enjoy his 2 Slices of Pepperoni, which he Loves. The salad dressing is really good too. I will do this the next time we go as I’m trying to watch my weight.
You can’t go wrong. They didn’t have Chicken ceaser or I may have gotten that 🙂
what kinda of ceasar dressing do you use in your pre-made ceasar salad?
loved the Costco ceasar salad. the dressing was the best I’ve tasted in a very long time. I wish I knew the brand name and if it is available for purchase.
We found the romaine crispy, plenty of cheese, and dressing, and croutons, but all together, it was terribly bland. I thought perhaps it was just me, until my wife asked, without prompting or comment from me, if I thought
The salad was really bland…
So, we’re a thumbs down here
Thanks Michael! I honestly love hearing other peoples opinions on Costco food.
