Are you looking for a new savory, salty and crunchy snack? The Costco Moon Cheese might be exactly what you’re looking for. It’s high in protein, low in carbs, gluten-free and best of all, it’s super satisfying! I wasn’t sure what to think about this before I tried it, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Today I’m reviewing the Costco Gouda Moon Cheese! This is a newer product to my Costco so I picked it up to review on the blog.
Similar products from Costco I’ve reviewed are the Costco Whisps Asiago Pepper Jack Cheese Crips, Costco Kirkland Signature Manchego Cheese, Costco Tipiak French Cheese Bites, Costco Folios Cheese Wraps and Costco Cello Whisps Parmesan Cheese Crisps.
Location in Store
The Gouda Moon Cheese is in the snack section at Costco, near the front of the store. The item number is 1397076.
Taste
Both my husband and I taste-tested the Moon Cheese even thought my husband was completely against trying it at first. He doesn’t love cheese in general and despises any strong flavored cheese. He tried the Moon Cheese with me and we were both pleasantly surprised by how tasty it is!
Looking on the Moon Cheese Website there’s a few different flavors but Costco is currently stocking the gouda flavor. These are thick and a bit puffy, light and crunchy. They’re salty and have a buttery flavor. Similar to the flavor of buttered popcorn, the flavor is not at all cheesy, which is weird because the only ingredient is gouda!
Overall the flavor is delightful but very mild. My husband didn’t expect to like the Moon Cheese at all and has decided this would be a great snack to have with cocktails.
Cost
The cost is $11.99 for a 283 gram bag, which isn’t bad at all considering it’s cheese!
Convenience
The bag is resealable which is really nice because they stay fresh for longer. In case you’re curious, the Costco Moon Cheese is a product of the USA. The best before date is about seven months from the date we purchased it.
These are great to have as a side with a sandwich or to snack on while watching TV.

I bought these a few weeks ago and loved them.
One caveat. I’ve never been more thirsty in my life than the 24 hours after we ate them.
I literally got up twice that night to drink water. I love salt but I’d never had this much in a day I guess:)
Yes they are quite salty!
We just went through (aka ‘scarfed’ ) a bag of this delicious goodness! From across the room, my son thought these were cheese curds and perhaps briefly pondered if I was losing it but alas, no (not this time, anyway). He’s not a cheese lover either but I convinced him to try this and he loved them. A very satisfying snack and you don’t need a lot to get that hit of hunger satisfaction. These are great to keep in the car for a quick bite as you are going about your day 🙂
