I’ve reviewed pretty much all of the salad kits my Costco has carried over the last several years. I have a few favorites that I repurchase over and over again. We eat Caesar salads fairly often, but we haven’t really found a Caesar salad kit that we love. Can this Taylor Farms Ultimate Caesar Salad Kit make the cut and get added to the salad rotation in my house?
I like Caesar salad, it’s my go-to salad to serve when I’m hosting a meal because I find that a lot of people really like it! Costco carries their own Kirkland Signature Caesar Salad but I wanted to try this Taylor Farms Ultimate Caesar Salad Kit as well.
Other salad kits from Costco that I’ve reviewed are the Costco Eat Smart Sweet Kale Salad Kit, Costco Taylor Farms Dill Pickle Salad Kit, Costco Paisley Farm Four Bean Salad, Costco Kirkland Signature Quinoa Salad and the Costco Taylor Farms Asian Cashew Chopped Salad.
Location in Store
You can find this in the cold produce room at Costco. The item number is 1568656.
Taste
There’s plenty of dressing, croutons, cheese and seasoning in the kit. You might even find you don’t need all of the dressing! The lettuce seems to be good-quality and decently fresh. It was nice and crunchy eating the salad a couple of days after buying it.
The croutons are a little bit too large. I think the salad would be better with smaller ones. I found myself trying to break them up with my fork, which doesn’t work that well.
Overall the textures from the lettuce and croutons are good though. The cheese, dressing, croutons and especially the seasoning add lots of flavor. The salad definitely tastes like a classic Caesar salad. The biggest missing piece in my opinion is that there aren’t any bacon bits in the kit. My favorite Caesar salads have bacon in them.
Cost
The 422 gram Caesar salad kit costs $6.49 Canadian at Costco, which isn’t bad for a family of one to four. If you’re hosting a bigger meal I’d recommend getting the Costco Kirkland Signature Caesar Salad Kit that has more salad for not even double the cost.
Convenience
Everything you need to make a tasty Caesar salad comes in the kit, croutons, romaine lettuce, salad dressing, parmesan and seasoning! The only thing it might be missing is bacon and fresh squeezed lemon.
The best before date is five days from the date we purchased it and the salad needs to be kept refrigerated. This takes only a few minutes to toss together. Leftovers don’t store well, they become very soggy so I recommend eating as much as you can.
Nutrition
Calories
One cup of prepared salad is 180 calories, 14 grams of fat, 10 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fibre, one gram of sugar, four grams of protein and 410 mg of sodium. I probably eat at least two cups so I would be doubling the nutrition facts. It’s not exactly a low calorie super healthy salad!
Ingredients
This is a long ingredients list! Everything I see on this list is what I would expect to see in a store bought salad kit which means some are not the healthiest, such as palm oil shortening. If you make a Caesar salad from scratch you know exactly what’s going into it and can avoid unnecessary ingredients.

News flash:
I ate REAL original Caesar salad (invented by Caesar Cardini) numerous times in TJ Mexico during the 1940’s.
Trust me…It contained No bacon bits!!
And, you won’t like this… It did contain
RAW egg!!!
At what point is the seasoning added?
I mix it with the lettuce before the rest.
