These Costco pineberries are a unique find!
Today I’m reviewing something from Costco I’ve never seen or tasted before! Costco Pink-A-Boo Pineberries!
Other fruit and vegetables I’ve reviewed from Costco is the Costco HBF Kiwi Berries, Costco Kirkland Signature Apple Snack, Costco Taylor Farms Dill Pickle Salad Kit, Costco Zespri Golden Kiwi, Costco Kirkland Signature Organic Seaweed Snack and the Costco Cotton Candy Grapes.
Location in Store
I found these pineberries hiding on the floor in the corner of the produce room at Costco. There were only two left. The item number is 1538556.
Taste
So what do pineberries from Costco taste like? Well they taste similar to a strawberry but with a hint of pineapple flavor. The pineapple flavor isn’t very strong and only slightly noticeable.
I found the pineberries that were less pink and more white tasted distinctly different from strawberries while the ones that were pinker tasted more similar to strawberries. Pineberries also taste less tart than regular strawberries and I find they have a unique buttery flavor.
The pineberries from Costco taste different than any berry I’ve had but I don’t find the flavor absolutely blows my socks off.
Cost
The 283 gram of pineberries from Costco is $5.99 Canadian which is pretty expensive for such few berries. I can easily polish off a container this size in one sitting.
Convenience
The pineberries at Costco are ripe and ready to eat! I think the best way to eat pineberries is just by themselves, no sugar, not in smoothies and not on ice cream or in yogurt.

There are 29 calories, zero grams of fat, five grams of carbohydrates, five grams of sugar and one gram of fiber in a 100 gram serving of pineberries.

Pineberries are good source of folate, vitamin C and phosphorus. The Costco Wish Farms Pink-A-Boo Pineberries are non-GMO and naturally grown.

I think these are fun to try once! I won’t be repurchasing them because I love regular strawberries just as much but I’m glad to say I know what a pineberry tastes like!

Are they really not just unripened strawberries?
They’re a different variety of strawberry but some people have found they have no flavor and others get a back that’s very flavorful so it fluctuates.
Based on the price alone, I would never buy these so I appreciate your review just out of curiosity. I also never buy California strawberries since they don’t come close in flavour to our local ones.

I would encourage you to try them at least once! They are delicious! I plan to buy them again in the future. They are a little elusive though.
Must be GMO berries designed to eradicate the monopoly of strawberries in the market
Hi Ruth, These are bred with natural hybridization. This is not a GMO.
These are good. My 2 yr old grandson eats them like candy. Wish they came in a larger container.
