A versatile sauce with a hint of chipotle and heat but not much sweetness!
Today I’m reviewing the Johnny’s Sweet, Hot & Crazy. Marinade & Wing Sauce from Costco. I wanted to try this on chicken since my husband and I eat a ton of chicken and it gets boring really fast.
Other Johnny’s products that Costco sells are the Johnny’s Black Garlic Vinaigrette and the Johnny’s Potato Cheddar Soup Mix.
Location in Store
You can find this marinade and wing sauce in the aisle with all the other sauces and salad dressing. The item number is 1621742.
Taste
We marinated two chicken breasts overnight with a generous amount of the sauce, about a quarter of the bottle and then baked the chicken breasts. The flavor of the chicken is really good, kind of like hot wings but not overly strong or spicy.
There’s not a ton of sweetness or heat when used as a marinade, it’s got just a slight hint of heat, not a lot and a mild very mild chipotle flavor. . We didn’t add any other seasonings or sauce on the chicken and I don’t think it needs anything else. The flavor is mild so you could dip the chicken is more sauce to make it more flavorful.
As a dip it has a strong chipotle flavor and more heat for sure, not a ton of sweetness.. The chipotle flavor isn’t as strong when you use it as a marinade. You can definitely taste the chipotle and spice when enjoyed as a dipping sauce.
Cost
The Costco Johnny’s Sweet, Hot & Crazy Marinade and Wing Sauce costs $7.79 Canadian at Costco for a 944 mL bottle.
Convenience
This can be used as a marinade or wing sauce! You can also use it as a dipping sauce for things like chicken strips, beef, wings, vegetables or fries. We tried it with the Costco Pinty’s Buffalo Chicken Flings and it went well with those.
The best before date listed on the bottle is about 11 months from the date we purchased it. Shake the sauce well before using and refrigerate after opening.

Give it a try!
Almost different flavors depending on how use you use it. Not my favorite marinade I’ve bought.
Do you have a marinade from Costco?

Is it going to be available in Regina or anywhere else in Canada? It’s a really nice sauce!
Wondering the same, if it will return to Costco or is there another place to purchase?
Will costco be getting this sauce back? If so, when?
You never know with Costco!
