Costco’s Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Pie is one of the store’s most famous items during the fall and winter seasons. The combination of value and taste is hard to beat! Find out everything you need to know about the Costco Pumpkin Pie in this review – how it tastes, nutrition facts, how to freeze it and even how to get rid of the moisture on top!
2022 Update
Costco recently rolled out the pumpkin pies for the 2022 Canadian Thanksgiving. The price remains the same as last year at $6.99 Canadian which is extremely cheap for such as tasty and large pie.
I’m happy to find the taste of the pie hasn’t changed in 2022, the flavor of the crust and filling tastes just as it usually does. It still has the glaze on top and I still recommend freezing it right away.
If you need a dessert idea for Christmas and Thanksgiving 2022 I definitely suggest picking up a Costco Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Pie! My husband doesn’t love pumpkin pie so I have a whole pie to myself this year!
Location in Store
You can find the Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Pie in the bakery section at Costco. The item number is 11226.
Taste
The Costco Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Pie is really tasty and flavorful. I recently was talking about the pie with my mom and she pointed out that for a grocery store pie she finds the filling is really quite flavorful and not bland which I agree with!
The pumpkin pie filling isn’t too firm nor too soft. It’s slightly spicy with strong hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. The bottom of my pumpkin pie crust is unfortunately not baked enough so when I served my pie I ended up with some cracks in the filling from it bending.
The overall flavor of the pastry is delicious, it’s buttery, flaky and soft and I have no problem eating the crust when usually I skip eating my pie crust.
Cost
The price of the pie has gone up $1 CAD this year! It used to be $5.99 Canadian but is now $6.99. Still really reasonable for a ginormous pie!
Convenience
This pie freezes beautifully! I recommend freezing it the day you buy it.
I also really suggest slicing up the pie before you freeze it but don’t take the slices out of the Costco pie container, just pop the whole container in your freezer. When you want a piece just use a fork or knife to jiggle a piece out of thaw on a plate on the counter.
In Canada, they sometimes put an apricot glaze on the top of the pie. This creates a layer of moisture or gel on top of the pie and some find it unappealing.
To get rid of this glaze, simply just blot it up with a paper towel, then slice your pie and freeze immediately. Freezing it right away prevents the pie from sweating in the container.
The best-before date is about three days from the date the pie is packaged. I love my pumpkin pie with whipped cream or ice cream!

Ingredients
If you’re making pumpkin pie from scratch you know exactly what’s going into the pumpkin pie and there are generally simple baking ingredients like pumpkin puree, sugar, butter. flour. The Costco Pumpkin Pie has a ton of ingredients I wouldn’t use in my own baking at home like soy oil and palm oil.

Fantastic pumpkin pie
Perfect the way it is
Just keep it in the refrigerator and cut a slice. I find it makes 12 serving.
Price in the US is $5.99
There are too many chemicals and non-food ingredients. The taste is not good. Costco’s pumpkin pie isn’t as unhealthy as their chemically loaded “peanut butter pie,” but neither belongs in a human’s stomach.
Costco provides many great organic and healthy foods, but they market some seriously unhealthy “food” also. Bake your own pumpkin pie. Your arteries will thank you.
I don’t know what these people who are giving negative reviews on the pumpkin is doing to the pie between Costco and their plate. I have been eating there pie for several years (and others as well) and I have never had a mushy crumbly or tasted remotely like lighter fluid. These pies are ridiculously delicious so well priced and indeed I will continue to enjoy the Costco pumpkin pies
What do you compare Costco’s pumpkin pie to? It doesn’t compare to Frisches “Big Boy” for store-bought. Homemade is much better and leaves out the chemicals and oils. Costco leaves out the tasty spices needed to compete. I suppose Costco’s might pass if you aren’t used to good pumpkin pie.
I have had homemade pie for years from every region or family, and no one comes close to COSTCO’s pumpkin pie… hands down the best pie out there.
Different strokes for different folks. No need to shame people for their taste in pies!
It looked raw it wasn’t in the fridge at Costco either when purchased they have them on a table
2023 and it is still $6.99 and I am on pie number 2 in 2 weeks and eating it all myself. Don’t even come near me or you might get hurt 🙂
I too eat it with whipped cream with no sugar added. The pie has all the sweetness you need.
An extra tweak that I make is to put on a layer of Costco peanut butter and (home made) dark chocolate. First I add the dark chocolate to the peanut butter and leave it on the counter top overnight and the chocolate melts and mixes into the pb nicely. I also chop up a couple dates and add that to the pb and this concoction is very nice to snack on even without the pumpkin pie but when you put the two together along with the whipped cream… wow. Orgasmic!
I also had a Pumpkin pie from Fairway Market a week before the Costco pies. I have to say the Fairway Market one was even more tasty but it was half the size for the same price and the difference is taste was not that big. So for me the Costco pie is the winner, hands down.
I love the pie and give it a 9 out of 10.
quite the bargain. wish I could still get one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worst pie we have ever bought. Tasted like lighter fluid 3 days after purchase. Customer service suggested I return it on Black Friday. Hilarious. Avoid this catastrophe.
Absolutely siagree
Must have gotten a bad pie… they are one of the best pies out there. It is better than any homemade pie I have ever had! Hands down.
I can’t believe so many people love this pie. I used to not mind pumpkin pie much but once these started showing up at my Thanksgivings I now avoid it entirely. From what I can tell it’s not even cooked. The crust is mushy and unless you have a good serving tool, the bottom crust is happy to just stick to the aluminum pan. The rear crust just crumbles away. It’s like if you took a frozen pie crust, left it to defrost, poured some pumpkin custard inside, refrigerated it to let the custard gel, and ate it.
The pies were extremely disappointing this year. The crust for the pumpkin pie was extremely mushy. I even popped it in the oven. No can do! Apple pie was only slightly better.
Too hard to find! It should be a staple from September to Spring! They use canned pumpkin, which is available year round, so I’m not sure why it’s only such a time-limited item.
Somewhat disappointed that this isn’t available up to Hallowe’en. They stopped having it after Thanksgiving here.
It was $3.97 on clearance at some locations. Pity I missed out.
Now if only Costco would bring back strawberry cheesecake.
Why does it not say to refrigerate on the label in Costco Canada?
I bought the pie on December 23rd. and it is to be used by December 26th. It was not refrigerated at Costco.
I am not a pumpkin pie lover but my son likes it. Should I throw it out?
I bought it for Christmas dessert for him.
It’s made different in the US. No refrigeration required in Canada.
When do you take the pie out of the freezer for an event? I froze it for Thanksgiving, should I take it out the day before or earlier?
I would take it out the night before and defrost in the fridge then get it to room temperature a few hours before serving.
I prefer it out of the refrigerator with whip cream. Just my opinion.
Great taste and a pie doesn’t last long. Just my wife and myself, (she and the grandkids may eat a slice) but the other half is all mine.
The serving is 1/16th of the pie for 250k. The sliced pie shows 8 slices makes a very pretty photo but would need to cut it in 1/2.
Best commercial pie ever!
I live alone but LOVE Costco’s Pumpkin Pie and am always sorry to see it go. Am anxious to try freezing some. That’s a TON of pie for one person to eat even in 5 days!
Definitely freeze it! It tastes just as good
Best pie ever and so amazing for the price!
Agreed!
