Dark, milk and white chocolates filled with a creamy, sweet peppermint filling!
Today I’m reviewing the Costco After Eight Assorted Mint Pieces! These are wonderful for any peppermint and chocolate lover.
Other chocolates from Costco available for the Christmas season are the Godiva Masterpieces Chocolates, Lint Lindor Chocolates, Anthon Berg Liquor Filled Dark Chocolates, Baileys Original Irish Cream Chocolates and the Gudrun Fine Belgian Chocolates.
Location in Store
You can find the Costco After Eight chocolates in the seasonal aisle, near all the other holiday chocolates. The item number is 1553066.
Taste
There are three different kinds of chocolates in the package – white chocolate, dark chocolate and milk chocolate. All three chocolates are filled with the same soft, somewhat runny mint fondant.
The chocolate is decent quality for mass-produced chocolates, though I’ve had better.
The flavors are exactly what you would expect if you’ve ever eaten an After Eight chocolate, and that’s a good thing. Even though After Eights aren’t my favorite chocolate, they’re hard to pass up when they’re sitting on a table in front of you! There’s a reason why the brand has been around for as long as I can remember.
Even though I tend to prefer milk chocolate to dark chocolate, I like the dark chocolate After Eight the best. The mint filling is quite sweet, so pairing it with the less sweet dark chocolate balances it out a bit.
In contrast, the white chocolate was my least favorite flavor because I found the white chocolate a little too sweet with the mint filling. The milk chocolate was pretty good – closer to the dark chocolate than the white chocolate.
Cost
The 400 gram bag of Costco After Eight Assorted Mint Pieces costs $12.99 Canadian.
Convenience
The best before date on the chocolate mints is just over six months from the date I purchased them. I recommend storing them in a cool, dry place as they will melt if they get overheated.
I appreciate that the bag is resealable and each After Eight is individually wrapped. Additionally, this makes them easy to share at work or put in a nice decorative bowl to have out during Christmas.
Nutrition
Calories
Six chocolates is 210 calories, 10 grams of fat, 26 grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, 24 grams of sugar, one gram of protein and 15 mg of sodium. However, six chocolates is a lot to eat so 210 calories doesn’t seem so bad to me. I think I’d feel a bit sick after four.
Ingredients
The first ingredient is sugar which is normal as these taste quite sweet! These may contain tree nuts, eggs, wheat and soy.
Scoring
Taste: 7/10 for the dark chocolate and milk chocolate, 6/10 for the white chocolate.

Overall
Give it a try!
I’m not a huge fan of After Eight, I think the filling is a bit too sweet but I do enjoy one or two of these and would reach for one if they were offered to me. If you know you like After Eight, definitely pick these up.
Have you tried these? What did you think of them?

I love these individually wrapped After Eight Assorted Mint Pieces. I wish they were still available nice to share at family gatherings all year round. After Eight is a staple for parties & gatherings all occasions. Would buy 2 packages in a heatbeat. Have 2 big functions coming up in June & would like to know where I can buy them? They are 100% sustainably sourced cocoa
I’ve only seen them at Costco!
