The Truffettes de France Truffles are a simple treat that’s returned to Costco’s holiday section for a few years now. The package has changed a bit, but the melt-in-your-mouth chocolates haven’t. They’re great for putting out in a bowl for guests, but you might want to have some napkins handy because the cocoa dusting and melty chocolate can be a bit messy. Read on to find out everything you want to know about these addictive chocolate truffles.

Taste
These truffles are very basic but very good. They’re creamy, smooth, super chocolaty and they melt in your mouth and hands so they’re a bit messy.
They’re a milk chocolate truffle dusted in unsweetened cocoa powder so you get a bit of a bitter powdery taste at first.
I like the addition of the cocoa powder on the outside because it tones down the sweetness just a bit. These truffles are definitely on the sweet side but are so good!
Cost
The price of these truffles has gone up quite a bit. In 2020 they cost $13.99 Canadian and today in 2023 they cost $17.99 Canadian for the same size box.
You get two one-kilogram boxes in the larger box. Each one-kilogram box has two bags of chocolate. There are a ton of truffles so we’ll be sharing them with family.
Convenience
These are perfect for the holiday season. They’re irresistible in a candy dish and make a great gift for teachers, daycare staff or colleagues because they’re nut-free and a simple, delicious truffle.
I recommend storing them in a cool, dry place. The best-before date is over a year and a half from the date we purchased the truffles.

These aren’t low-calorie but I don’t Five truffles contain 250 calories, 17 grams of fat, two grams of fibre, 18 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of protein, 30 milligrams of sodium and 18 grams of sugar.
Ingredients
The ingredients list is short but full of unhealthy things. I’m surprised that the first ingredient is coconut oil! The truffles contain milk and soy and may contain tree nuts.

I think one box is too many for one family, everyone will get tired of them since the truffles are all the same. They’re a great option for a gift though.

I love these. I bought for the first time this past Christmas (2023). One or two of these satisfy my chocolate craving. So many in a box, defiantly for sharing. Have not had any problems with melting or sticking together.
Why is everyone getting the price so mixed up? They sell for $17.99 at Costco during Christmas time, for a 1 KG box with 2 – 500 g bags, in each box! This is the real price and it’s a great price still! This is like buying 10 100 g, Lindt chocolate bars! Which works out to roughly 2 dollars per bar! That’s with the tax! I find them very enjoyable! Natural flavor is not “natural”! Why does everything these days have natural flavor? And these are too sweet.
I bought 2 boxes from Costco, kept one and gifted the other. When we opened the box, it contained 2 pouches with liquid choc inside. No instructions can be found in the box. I tried UTube but it did not provide much info about what to do with them. Very disappointed that I wasted my money. Buyers – BEWARE!!!

I bought this product on the open shelves in the supermarket, stored it in a cupboard at room temperature until Christmas Day. Opened it to find only a sea of melted chocolate. Then saw on the box that it should be kept at below 68F, 20C. This info. should be emblazoned on the package! I don’t want a refund, I simply placed the package in the refrigerator and serve it as chunks of chocolate. Too sweet and slightly greasy. Never again!
Not a fan. They’re essentially a brownie drenched in dark cocoa powder. Someone would always bring them to work. They were palatable but nothing special. I’d rather eat a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup or Godiva Sea Shells instead.
Love these. My daughter also loves them. A friend in Hawaii first Christmas gifted a box to me last year and I am hooked. So happy to find them at my neighborhood Costco.
Just opened a box of these to put out on the table. People coming in 2 hours. The whole bag was glommed together! I was able to pry off 6 out of the two bags! So disappointed. I will try melting the rest that are a solid brick into a chocolate fondu.🙁

Here’s a quick tip: Take a mug of milk, warm it in the microwave (personally I found 2 minutes is best with my oven) then slip in 4 of these truffles and microwave for 30 sec more. We use a little battery operated milk frother to stir and aerate the cocoa. Yum!

These are the best truffles we have ever tasted. We gave them out as gifts last Christmas and they were a huge hit. We will buy them again and again. My only question is when do they hit the stores!
I bought these from Costco last year (hmm, around Christmas time) intending them as gifts. I always “preview” my food gifts. I am not a fan of chocolate particularly, but i do cook with dark or unsweetened chocolate. After tasting one of irregularly shaped morsels, I was hooked!!. Not too sweet and 2 or three pieces are more than filling and satisfying. Long story shortened: went back to Costco, tripled my original order. Gave out 1 1/2 of my purchase, to rave reviews. I just finished the last bag and now I am on a mad hunt to replenish my stash. Praying that this is a seasonal item at Costco so I can do so. No problem with melting or sticking to the box. They are oddly shaped, true and the cocoa dusting can be messy. Small price to pay and Costco sells paper napkins. PS delicious with ice cream and raspberry sauce or liquor.

I am so glad I see your post. This chocolate use to be my mom favorite and I use it in my backing, coating my cakes or make hot chocolate for my family. I bought it every year until I noticed is something wrong with it and does not melting it anymore. When I read the ingredients I was in shock and I noticed they are now fabricated in Canada! I will never again buy this artificial truffle. I prefer to buy smaller amount from European stores ,higher price and real quality.

$11 bucks for 4.4 lbs of fine chocolate is ridiculously priced. They should be that much for a half pound. Go to a chocolatier in Belgium or France and see what comparable chocolates sell for. I’m thinking about buying 20 boxes and storing them in a cool dry place come Christmas.

I tried this a few times at our Xmas work office party. The cocoa dusting just makes them really messy to eat. I didn’t find them sweet either. I think it’s more oriented to those who like dark chocolate (yuk), lol. BTW. Did you notice the carb count of these? They’re only slightly higher than the Keto chocolate brownies.
