Too saucy for my taste, not my favorite macaroni salad to serve at a summer barbecue!
I picked up this Summer Fresh Four Cheese Macaroni Salad to serve at our Father’s Day barbecue and wanted to review it here today!
If you’re interested in other salads from Costco to serve at your summer barbecue other than the one I’m reviewing today, you may want to check out my review for the Summer Fresh Pasta Salad, Stonemill Kitchens Homestyle Red Potato Salad, Kirkland Signature Caesar Salad, Kirkland Signature Quinoa Salad or the Paisley Farm Four Bean Salad.
This Summer Fresh Four Cheese Macaroni Salad can be found in the refrigerated deli section at Costco and the item number is 5059006.
Taste
Despite this being a four cheese macaroni salad it didn’t taste all that cheesy to me. All I could really taste was lots of mayonnaise. I could taste a bit of flavor coming through from the vinegar, carrots and bell peppers but really not much cheese.
I prefer less heavy and saucy macaroni salads I would rather have much less mayonnaise and more cheese and vegetables! This isn’t my favorite macaroni salad and I feel like it’s too rich to serve with something like hot dugs or hamburgers that already have buns.
To lighten it up I will add a ton of fresh veggies to make it a little lighter tasting!
Cost
This 1.4 kg tub of macaroni salad cost $9.99 Canadian at Costco
Convenience
The macaroni salad needs to be kept refrigerated and should be consumed within five days from the time the macaroni salad is opened. The best before date is about a month from the date we purchased the macaroni salad, that’s if it’s not opened.
Macaroni salad is a popular side dish to serve at your summer barbecue! It doesn’t require you to turn on your oven to bake anything and is best served chilled. Macaroni salad goes well with burgers, hotdogs, chicken, steak. seafood and pork chops!
Nutrition
The Costco Summer Fresh Four Cheese Macaroni Salad is not at all healthy. One cup is 390 calories, 28 grams of fat, 27 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fibre, three grams of sugar, seven grams of protein and 500 mg of sodium.
The second ingredient listed is mayonnaise made with canola oil. This makes sense considering all you really taste is mayonnaise flavor!

I think you’d be better off making your own macaroni salad from home or sticking to a brand you know you like!

My husband and I really disliked this salad. It had an awful after taste so we couldn’t eat it.
Best pasta salad ever! Very rich & flavourful! Just wish it was sold all year round!
Surprised you didn’t like it! We find it quite tangy and cheesy. It’s a requested must at all our work functions 🙂 Although my favourite Costco salad is the four pack Summer Fresh 7-grain salads! So awesome and filling for work lunches, although I do wish they’d just put it in a big container and cut a *little* of the plastic at least. Add some cucumber and feta and WOW!
