Buttery, soft, flavorful blueberry scones from Costco. Perfect for your weekend brunch!
I’m reviewing the Costco Monte Cristo Whole Wheat Blueberry Scones today. I know I already like these scones because I already reviewed the Monte Cristo Lemon Cranberry Scones from Costco and loved those. I have a hunch that Monte Cristo Bakery may be the supplier to some big name coffee shop chains.

Taste
The Monte Cristo Whole Wheat Blueberry Scones are more dry and crumbly than the Lemon Cranberry Scones but they’re still really enjoyable. You can really taste the flavor of the whole wheat flour coming through.
There’s a ton of fresh blueberries in each scone and the blueberry flavor is delicious. These aren’t imitation sickly sweet tasting blueberries either, they’re real-deal plump blueberries!
The scones aren’t overly sweet and the flavor is subtle, for additional moisture and flavor I always add a dab of butter to my scones.
Cost
I paid $12.99 Canadian for the box of 12 individually packaged scones. Considering the quality and taste I think this is a very reasonable cost for the scones. I know when I buy scones at a local bakery or coffee shop I often pay three to five dollars for one.
Convenience
Each scone is individually packaged which makes the scones convenient to bring to work or school for breakfast or lunch and also allows me to easily share them with family and friends.
I also love that I can easily throw a bunch in my freezer without having to package them in a container or bag. The best before date on the scones is about nine days from the date I purchased the scones.
Nutrition
One scone is 320 calories, nine grams of fat, 52 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fibre, seven grams of protein, 17 grams of sugar and 410 mg of sodium.
The ingredients list for the scones isn’t super long and I can pronounce and understand why each ingredient listed would be in the scones, this is something I really appreciate when it comes to ingredients lists. Although there’s whole wheat flour in these scones they’re not exactly much healthier than regular scones so keep that in mind when choosing what kind of scone to buy.
