Costco Monte Cristo Oat Fudge Bars Review

Costco now has copycat Starbucks oat fudge bars but are they as good?

When I saw my Costco carrying these Monte Cristo Oat Fudge Bars I immediately thought of the one time I tried an oat fudge bar from Starbucks and thought it was so good. I had to pick these up to find out whether these Costco oat fudge bars were as good as the Starbucks ones.

If you’re a humongous fan of the Costco bakery department like I am you might like to check out my reviews for Costco bakery items like the Kirkland Signature Blueberry Crisp Pie, Kirkland Signature Tuxedo Cake, Kirkland Signature Cheese Buns, Kirkland Signature Hazelnut Cream Donuts, Kirkland Signature Cinnamon Danishes, Kirkland Signature 9 Grain Ciabatta Buns and the Kirkland Signature Braided Apple Turnovers.

The Monte Cristo Oat Fudge Bars can be found in the bakery section and their item number at Costco is 1514330.

Taste

These aren’t nearly as good as Starbucks oat fudge bars but they’re tasty enough that I gobbled up an entire bar after I said I’d only have a few bites.

The oat fudge bars are a dense, chewy, fudgy brownie that’s slightly crisp around the edges with a soft and crumbly oatmeal cookie bottom. Then on top of the fudge brownie layer is more soft, slightly chewy oatmeal in the shape of a circle.

Picture an oatmeal cookie mixed with a decadent fudge brownie and that is what the oat fudge bars are. They’re very sweet and a little on the dry side but still enjoyable.

Cost

For 10 individually packaged bars in the box I paid $11.99 Canadian.

Convenience

Each bar is individually packaged in plastic which is convenient and makes them very easy to pop in your purse or car. They also freeze well and the best before date on the bars was about a week from the date they were purchased.

You can enjoy the oat fudge bars for breakfast or as a snack with your coffee or tea during the day or even have them for dessert! Because found them slightly dry the second time I ate one I topped some vanilla ice cream with my bar and it was pretty good!

Nutrition

I looked at the nutrition information to see what damage I had done after I had demolished an entire bar in about two minutes. These are not at all healthy and are pretty high in calories and sugar but so are the ones from Starbucks!

Overall

Give it a try!

I didn’t think these were unreal or amazing and they didn’t taste near as good as the Starbucks ones but I did enjoy my box and thought they were a nice sweet treat!

Have you tried these? What did you think? Would you buy these to try?

  1. I like how you describe where to find each item in Costco. I wouldn’t go looking all over the store for something but will if I know exactly where to go.
