Costco shoppers love this convenient, fun, pre-made chicken taco meal!
Today I’m reviewing the Costco Kirkland Signature Chicken Tacos! These chicken tacos at Costco are convenient for Costco shoppers to pick up during their busy Costco trip for a quick and fun dinner at home! Costco also carries the Cuisine Adventures frozen Rolled Tacos.
Other Costco pre-made meals I love are the Costco Kirkland Signature Chicken Burger Meal Kit, Costco Kirkland Signature Stuffed Salmon, Costco Gyro Pita Greek Style Meal and the Costco Kirkland Signature Chicken Pot Pie.
Location in Store
You can find the Costco Kirkland Signature Chicken Tacos in the pre-made meal section at Costco. The item number is 15188.
Taste
First, let me go over what all comes in the Costco Kirkland Signature Chicken Tacos. I got 13 flour tortillas, an adequate serving of chicken (not a ton), sliced lime, cheese, coleslaw (cabbage and carrots), salsa and cilantro lime cream sauce. The chicken is moist and seasoned quite heavily with taco seasoning, it’s quite salty but not very spicy.
I’m feeling thirsty when consuming this! The flour tortillas taste fresh and are thick and sturdy so they hold all the ingredients securely. The salsa isn’t very chunky and I’d say it’s heat level is between a mild to medium. Cheese is a must-have item with any kind of tacos and there’s not enough cheese in the container, in my opinion.
The cabbage slaw is made of strips of cabbage with a few carrot pieces throughout. The cilantro lime cream doesn’t taste strongly of cilantro or lime which surprises me, the main flavor is I taste is cheese! There’s feta cheese in the cilantro lime cream sauce. This disappoints me, because I was looking for something to balance out the saltiness of the chicken and salsa like sour cream does.
I find the cilantro lime cream sauce wasn’t as refreshing as I hoped and just adds another strong, heavy flavor to the tacos. I ended up adding my own fresh diced tomatoes to balance the salt and seasoning coming from the chicken, salsa and cilantro lime sauce. Overall these were tasty but I wish they hadn’t added feta to the cilantro lime sauce because it masks the cilantro and lime flavors. I wish there was more shredded cheese in the container and I’d also enjoy a little less seasoning on my chicken!
Cost
You can probably make this for a little cheaper than the Costco price if you cook the same meal at home but you pay for convenience. The price of the Costco Kirkland Chicken Tacos varies depending on the weight – it’s $11.99 per kilogram. My package is $15.94 Canadian.
Convenience
I bought this mainly for the convenience and for the fun factor! It was really fun to make our own tacos without having to cook or prep anything. All there is to do is heat the chicken up in a bowl in the microwave. The Costco Kirkland Signature Chicken Tacos have a best before date of three days after the date purchased.
I think these tacos would be great for a birthday party or a big get together. They also make a great potluck item to contribute!
Nutrition
Calories
Chicken is generally a lean, lower-calorie, low-fat protein source but I imagine the amount of sodium is quite high. I also believe the cilantro lime sauce and cheese is probably high in calories and fat. If you’re watching your carb intake you may want to eat fewer tortillas.
1/6th of the container is 360 calories, 13 grams of fat, 25 grams of protein, four grams of sugar, two grams of fibre and whopping 1290mg of sodium! I was right when I said it tasted salty! amount of sodium is quite high. I also believe the cilantro lime sauce and cheese is probably high in calories and fat. If you’re watching your carb intake you may want to eat fewer tortillas
Ingredients
There are a million ingredients on the ingredients list for these tacos. There a few additive/chemical sounding ingredients which I believe are added to extend the shelf life. The tacos contain wheat, oats, sulfites, milk and eggs. They may contain barley, fish, shellfish, crustaceans. tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, soy and mustard. I wish they used corn tortillas and made this gluten-free so individuals with celiac could enjoy this!

Overall
Give it a try.
I enjoy the convenience of this kit but I do find the tacos really salty. If you purchase these I highly recommend adding some avocado and sour cream to them.

Where can you buy the salsa used in the Costco street tacos
Good question! You’d have to ask Costco.
It’s Don Ponchos chile lime crema. They sell it in store most of the time in a double pack. https://costcocouple.com/don-pancho-cilantro-lime-crema/
My daughter in law served these for lunch..t They were fabulous..
I’m surprised that you find the chicken salty. Having been on a low sodium diet for a couple of years I am normally very sensitive to excessive saltiness and I do not find that with these. As to the masking of the cilantro flavour – for some of us that is a good thing! My wife hates Cilantro and can’t even tolerate the low level in these, and I’m not keen but this level works well for me.
I do agree about the cheese – there is not enough and we always add more. We also add refried beans and sour cream on occasion. I’d prefer larger taco shells too but …
So I find these a good base for a quick meal.
Do not insult Mexican Tacos with these nasty thing you call tacos ….worst tortilla flavor….nothing to do with a Mexican corn tortilla , unless those tortillas have no Nationality ! 😡
Thank you for this review. I’ve looked at these every time I’ve gone into Costco without ever buying them. I worry that my teenage son would eat the entire package! And now, after seeing the sodium content????? YIKES! I would NOT want him to have that much salt in one sitting!
Where did you get the nutrition info for sodium? Not to say you’re wrong I just didn’t have a nutrition facts label on the kit I purchased so I wonder where you found that info.
Yep! It’s veeeery salty!
