If you’re a fan of both butter croissants and waffles, the When We Eat Butter Croffles from Costco might be right up your alley. The Croffle combines the flaky, buttery goodness of a croissant with the crisp texture of a waffle, making them perfect for sweet or savory topping, or just enjoying on their own. I’m glad I grabbed a bag to try, and I’ll share exactly why in the review below!
Location in Store
You can find the Croffles in the frozen section at Costco, near the frozen breakfast products like the Brazi Bites Waffles and the Eat-In Spinach, Feta and Sundried Tomato Wraps. The item number is 1743020.
Taste
These are really quite nice! They’re basically like a butter croissant in the form of a waffle. The texture is light and fairly flaky. They outside is crispy and the inside is more soft and doughy.
I tried them alone and then tried them with traditional waffle toppings, butter and syrup. The butter and syrup was overkill, they’re buttery enough on their own. I think they’d be wonderful used with dessert rather than as a breakfast waffle. They’d be awesome with Pistachio Cream and fresh fruit or ice cream.
Cost
The 880 gram bag contains 12 Croffles and costs $15.99 Canadian. That’s more than a dollar per Croffle, which isn’t cheap but the Croffles are pretty big.
Convenience
I toasted them and they turned out really nice and crispy, I think they’d also be amazing after heating them in the air fryer. The Croffles need to be kept frozen and can be heated from frozen. The Croffles aren’t individually packaged, they come loose in the bag.
You can enjoy the Croffles on their own, with savory toppings or with sweet toppings! You could also even make a sandwich with them!

Ingredients
I appreciate that the ingredients list is short and sweet without a bunch of additives, chemicals or artificial flavors. The Croffles contain wheat, milk and eggs and may contain soy, barley, oats and rye. I love that they use real butter in them!

Overall
Give it a try!
These are actually really delicious, they’re versatile and you might need to find the right way to serve it to really appreciate them. Butter and syrup not the best way to serve it.

I tried the croffles last week, after an impulse buy the week before because they looked interesting. I did heat them in the airfryer and served them with warmed blueberry compote for breakfast.
I wasn’t enthused about croffles; though crispy on the outside, I found the inside texture to be doughy and a bit tough. Croffles seem like a baked croissant was squashed in a panini press, losing the airiness of a rich butter croissant and condensing the pastry, not in a good way.
I prefer a good, but had-to-find Belgian waffle for the outside crispness and lighter inside texture. I won’t buy the croffles again once the package is finished.
