Passion fruit and dark chocolate make such an intriguing flavor pairing, one I had never tried before. When I spotted the Chocxo Passion Fruit Chocolate Cups at my local Costco, I couldn’t resist grabbing a bag. With their gluten-free, organic ingredients and just five grams of sugar per cup, they seem like the ideal balance of sweet and tangy. However, the flavor didn’t quite live up to my expectations.
Location in Store
These chocolate cups are located in the snack section at the front of Costco. They’re located near the Garlerie Au Chocolat Milk Chocolate Cookie Butter Cups and the Kirkland Signature Dark Chocolate Mangoes. The item number is 1857243.
Taste
I love passion fruit so I was so excited to try these but felt a bit disappointed by the lack of passion fruit flavor. They taste more like lemon to me than passion fruit and the dark chocolate is the main flavor.
The passion fruit is very subtle, you mainly notice a citrus flavor paired with the dark chocolate. The dark chocolate is quite smooth and creamy, not very sweet and tastes like high quality dark chocolate. The passion fruit chocolate cups aren’t too sweet but they’re sweet enough to satisfy any sweet tooth.
Cost
The 420 gram bag comes with 24 cups and costs $14.99 Canadian which isn’t bad. This is roughly the same price as other similar chocolates at Costco.
Convenience
Each chocolate cup is individually packaged so you can easily pop one in your lunch bag, office desk, backpack or purse! The best before date listed on the bag is roughly 10 months from when I purchased them. These are great for anyone wanting a sweet treat that’s not high in sugar or carbohydrates.
Nutrition
Calories
One 14 gram cup contains 80 calories, six grams of fat, six grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fiber, five grams of sugar, one gram of protein and 10 milligrams of sodium. They’re pretty small so 80 calories isn’t as low as you may think but they’re low in sugar and carbs which I appreciate.
Ingredients
The ingredients list is pretty short and sweet with mostly organic ingredients. The chocolate cups contain milk and soy but are gluten-free! They may contain peanuts and tree nuts, most likely due to being manufactured in a place that also produces foods with nuts.

Overall
Give it a try!
If you like dark chocolate combined with citrus flavor, I think you’ll like these. If you’re hoping for a really strong passion fruit flavor that’s sweet and noticeable, you might be disappointed.

As you stated, if you’re looking for a strong passion fruit flavour, you will be disappointed; we were; won’t buy them again. The lemon ones were great, however!
