A Brookie is a dessert that combines the best of both worlds: rich brownie and tasty chocolate chip cookie dough. When I spotted these Dessert Factory Brookies at Costco, I couldn’t resist grabbing a box. As a fan of both brownies and chocolate chip cookies, they seemed like a dream come true. Unfortunately, they didn’t quite live up to my expectations.
Location in Store
I found these in the refrigerated deli section near the Summ Apple Pie Rolls and the Pulmuone Tonkotsu Miso Ramen. The item number is 1858374.
Taste
When you eat these you mainly taste brownie, the cookie dough bits add a bit of sweetness that’s less rich than the brownie. The brownie isn’t super dense and is a bit dry and crumbly. Microwaving the brownie makes it taste more moist but if it sits out it tastes dry.
The Brookies aren’t super heavy and overall are enjoyable but they’re not amazing. They’re pretty sweet and the flavor of the cookie dough bits isn’t really that noticeable. Overall they taste like a grocery store or box mix brownie and not like the decadent, moist, Belgian chocolate brownie I expected.
Cost
The box comes with six brownies and costs $14.99 Canadian which is pretty expensive! That’s $2.50 per brownie, they’re not worth the price in my opinion.
Convenience
I was shocked when I opened the box of Brookies and saw that they were just sitting in the box in these paper linings. They weren’t sealed at all in the box so I think that contributes to the dryness. The Brookies need to be kept refrigerated and the best before date is only about a week from when I purchased them.
I think if you’re going to buy these or have bought them you need some vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on hand to serve them with. I think kids will really enjoy these because they’re kind of a unique, fun dessert!
Nutrition
Calories
One Brookie contains 370 calories, 22 grams of fat, 41 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fibre, 30 grams of sugar, five grams of protein and 200 milligrams of sodium. That’s quite a few calories and sugar! The fat and carbs is pretty much what I’d expect to see in a brownie/cookie combo of this size.
Ingredients
The ingredients list has everything you’d expect to see in a store-bought brownie. There’s lots of unhealthy ingredients such as palm fat, rapeseed oil and of course sugar! The Brookies contain egg, soy, milk and wheat and may contain almonds and hazelnuts.

Walk on by!
These are just okay, Costco has better desserts that I’d recommend you buy first before spending your money on these. The cookies from Costco are great as well as the Tuxedo cake.

I think there are much better desserts at Costco that I would recommend over these!

Hi,
Do you know when they’ll have Jojo’s dark chocolates in Canadian stores?
Hopefully soon! I usually see them over the summer months.
