If you’re a carb lover, pancakes for breakfast are a dream come true. But if you’re more focused on protein and still craving something delicious, these Premier Protein Pancakes frin Costco are the perfect choice! With just 70 calories and 5 grams of protein per pancake, they satisfy your pancake cravings while keeping you on track with your nutrition goals.
Location in Store
These protein pancakes can be found in the freezer section at Costco, near the other frozen breakfast items like the Eat-In Spinach, Feta & Sundried Tomato Wrap and the Spudler’s Breakfast Hash. The item number is 2743197.
Taste
The first thing I notice about these pancakes is that they have a bit of a vanilla flavor and smell a bit sweet. The texture of the pancakes is soft and fluffy and is the same as any other non-protein pancakes.
I was worried they’d taste strongly like protein powder but they actually don’t. The protein powder flavor is definitely there but it’s very subtle and not chalky.
They aren’t too sweet and have a slight vanilla flavor. They basically taste like a regular pancake with a bit of a protein powder flavor. I like that the flavor of the vanilla isn’t too intense, and you could easily serve these with syrup, jam, butter or nut butters.
Cost
The 1.32-kilogram box comes with a total of 36 small-sized pancakes and costs $19.89 Canadian at Costco.
Convenience
You can heat the pancakes in the microwave or in the oven. I decided to use the microwave method, and they came out great. They were warm and soft right out of the microwave, but I notice if you leave them sitting, they become harder and crisp.
The pancakes needed to be kept frozen and the best before date is about 11 months from when I purchased them. These are great for an easy, quick breakfast. Also, because they’re packaged in packs of three, you can easily bring a pack with you to work or school to heat up.
I feel like putting syrup and butter on them kind of defeats the purpose of trying to eat a healthy-ish protein pancake. I personally would probably put just some nut butter on them for extra healthy fats and protein. You could also use some sugar free syrup or top them with some Greek yogurt and honey.
Nutrition
Calories
Two pancakes contain 140 calories, three grams of fat, 19 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, four grams of sugar, 10 grams of protein and 270 milligrams of sodium. That’s a decent amount of protein for pancakes! The calories aren’t that high and the sugar is also quite low.
Ingredients
The ingredient’s list isn’t very long and there’s only a few ingredients I don’t love seeing like canola/soybean oil, soy and natural flavors. The protein in the pancakes is coming from the whey protein, casein and egg. The pancakes contain barley, egg, milk, soy and wheat.

Overall
Give it a try!
These are surprisingly decently tasty! They don’t have a chalky, strong protein flavor and each pancake has five grams of protein! They taste really close to regular, non-protein pancakes.

I warm them up in the toaster on the defrost setting and get great results.
