Costco Cuisine Adventures Beef & Cheese Rolled Tacos Review

These Cuisine Adventures Beef & Cheese Rolled Tacos from Costco are a convenient option for lunch, a snack, or an appetizer. They’re made by filling a tortilla with meat and cheese, rolling it up tightly, and frying it until crispy. My all-time favorite kind of food is Mexican so I couldn’t wait to dig my teeth into these rolled tacos, but the question is: did they live up to my high expectations?

Location in Store

I found these mini tacos in the freezer aisle at Costco near all the other frozen appetizers and the item number is 2253221.

Taste

The tacos are pretty oily, there was a lot of oil left on the parchment paper when we baked them and I also noticed they tasted pretty oily. The outside got decently crispy in the oven but I bet they get even crispier in the air fryer.

The shell isn’t overly heavy but it would be nice if they made them wider with more filling because they’re tortilla heavy and there’s like a teaspoon of beef and cheese in each taco. The ends of the tacos are crispy and the middles are a bit soft/soggy which I think could be fixed by air frying them.

The taco shell itself is fine, it’s a typical tortilla and tastes mostly salty. I wish they used just corn tortillas instead of wheat and corn. The filling is like a paste which I dont love, it kind of seems like beef mixed with refried beans or something.

The filling isn’t bad, it’s tasty enough but I will warn that there’s a moderate amount of heat. The tacos are better with sour cream and salsa but guacamole would be good too. These aren’t my favorite Cuisine Adventures product. I prefer the French onion soup or the mini quiche.

Cost

The box comes with 30 rolled tacos and costs $16.99 Canadian, which isn’t cheap but keep in mind you’re paying for the convenience factor.

Convenience

These are really easy to heat up. We baked them in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 minutes and they turned out decently crispy on the edges but not as crispy in the center. Next time I’d try them in the air fryer.

The tacos need to be kept frozen and the best before date is about a year from when I purchased them. These work well as an appetizer or snack. I guess you could also serve them to kids for dinner but my toddler found them too spicy and didn’t like the tacos.

Nutrition

Calories

Three tacos contain 200 calories, 13 grams of fat, 14 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fibre, one gram of sugar, five grams of protein and 460 milligrams of sodium. The amount of calories and fat seem to be what I expected, I do wish there was more protein than five grams. The lack of protein points to there not being a lot of filling in the tacos.

Ingredients

The ingredients list seems pretty typical for a processed store-bought frozen taco. The tortillas contain both wheat and corn so these are unfortunately not gluten-free. The filling has a combination of beef, tomatoes, onion, cheddar cheese, red bell peppers, green onions, and seasonings.

I don’t love seeing canola oil and sugars listed as ingredients but I’m not surprised to see them. The tacos contain wheat, milk and soy.

Overall

Walk on by!

There’s nothing really great or exciting about these rolled tacos, they’re decent but nothing special I feel like there are better Mexican/taco options at Costco like the Kirkland Signature Chicken Tacos that you can pick up over these Cuisine Adventures ones.
