Rana has mastered making convenient pasta dishes that are ready to serve in just minutes and I’ve tried quite a few of their products at Costco. I wanted to try this Rana Fettuccine Grilled Seasoned White Chicken & Alfredo Sauce, but the price seems a bit high for the amount of pasta you’re getting. I think you’re definitely paying for the convenience and packing. Is the taste worth the higher cost or should you stick to making your own fettuccine chicken alfredo?
I’ve reviewed quite a few Rana products from Costco, like the Tagliatelle Seasoned White Chicken & Mushroom Sauce, Beef Short Rib Lasagna, Butternut Squash Ravioli and the Maine Lobster Ravioli.
Some other pastas from Costco I’ve really enjoyed that aren’t Rana are the Kirkland Signature Meat Lasagna, Kirkland Signature Spinach & Cheese Ravioli and the Kirkland Signature Five Cheese Tortelloni.
Location in Store
This is located in the refrigerated deli section, near all the other fresh pasta and refrigerated mains. The item number is 1795976.
Taste
We cooked the fettuccini for the recommended amount of time and the noodles seem a bit chewy, definitely al dente or a bit less cooked than al dente. The chicken is okay, it’s very salty andreminds me of the Fresh Additions Fully Cooked Chicken Breast Bites or the Pinty’s Oven Roasted Chicken Breast Strips.
The texture of the chicken is pretty chewy and has a noticeable processed meat flavor. There were some bites that the chicken tasted more like a ham. The sauce is quite nice, it’s not super cheesy and doesn’t taste strongly of parmesan. It’s very creamy and the sauce isn’t really that heavy, it’s actually pretty thin and light. It mixes well and evenly into the fettucini.
I wouldn’t say it’s amazing but I was really hungry when I ate this and thought it was okay. Both my dad and I tasted a bit of lemon in the sauce but the ingredients doesn’t show lemon which we found odd.
Cost
This isn’t cheap! The 1.14 kilogram tray costs $17.99 Canadian. I think it would feed a family of four as long as nobody had a huge appetite. If there are two teenagers and two adults one tray may not be enough.
Convenience
This comes with a ton of sauce so if you’re worried because you like your pasta really saucy, fear not! The pasta needs to be kept refrigerated and the best before date is just over a month from when we purchased it.
There are instructions on how to heat the pasta in the microwave or on the stove top. We decided to microwave the pasta and it turned out fine.
I’m not a fan of heating things in the microwave in plastic but I didn’t think about it until after I’d heated the pasta. Next time I’d definitely heat the pasta on the stovetop.
This is a quick and convenient, hearty meal for nights when you’re busy with activities or just too tired to make a big meal from scratch. I recommend serving it with some garlic bread and a green salad.
Nutrition
Calories
One and three quarter cups of pasta with sauce and chicken contains 530 calories, 27 grams of fat, 44 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fibre, six grams of sugar, 26 grams of protein and 1040 milligrams of sodium. That’s a ton of sodium and fat.
The carbohydrates aren’t as high as I expected and I also like that there are 26 grams of protein in one serving! This isn’t a low calorie meal but most pasta isn’t low calorie!
Ingredients
The ingredients list has alfredo sauce, parmesan cheese, fettuccine and chicken being the main ingredients. There are a few ingredients that you wouldn’t have in a pasta dish like this made from scratch at home like natural flavors and dextrose in the chicken. The pasta contains egg, milk and wheat.

Overall
Give it a try!
My parents and I shared the pasta and we all thought it was pretty decent, my dad actually really liked it. I think it’s a bit expensive for what you get and would only recommend it if you’re really short on time and need something filling.
Have you tried the Rana Fettuccine Grilled Seasoned White Chicken & Alfredo Sauce? What did you think of it?

I find this to be too salty and I like salt. It would taste great with half the salt. I won’t be buying it again unless they cut sodium by 25 to 50%.
I found it does need to sit for a few more minutes upon taking it out of the microwave for the pasta to become softer. The chicken can taste processed but it sure is yummy haha
I’ve had several Rana pasta/grilled chicken meals, they were all ok. I take the time to put the chicken in a sauce pan with a little olive oil and brown it further. Then I add the pasta (no microwaving pasta for me) and sauce to the chicken in the pan. I cover the pan and let it cook slowly. If the sauce seems too thin, I add a splash of half &half and a sprinkling of Costco parmesan cheese. Preparing the dish this way kicks it up a bit for us.
Thanks for the honest review. I’ve wondered about this item…
I find this to be too salty but everything else you said about them is spot-on. I wouldn’t buy them again.
