I’ve tried so many different sausages from Costco like the Amylu Paleo Chicken Sausages, Sabatino’s Paleo Organic Chicken Sausages, Greenfield Natural Meat Co. Fully Cooked Breakfast Sausage Rounds, Olympic Craft Meats Garlic Sausage, Kirkland Signature Beef Polish Sausages, Beyond Meat Beyond Sausage and the Connie’s Kitchen Feta and Spinach Chicken Sausages.

Location in Store

These were bought in Kona, Hawaii and found in the refrigerated deli section of Costco. The item number is 1250599.

Taste

We bought a couple different kinds of sausage during our time in Hawaii and these were my favorite out of the ones we bought. My toddler also enjoyed them! They have a nice combination of sweet and salty flavors. The sweet flavor is coming from the apples and I noticed a few real apple chunks in the sausages.

They’re a bit greasy and a bit on the salty side but flavorful. The one thing I don’t love about these sausages is that the casing is a bit thick and tough. The actual chicken inside the casing is soft and easy to eat.

My picky toddler daughter liked them and everyone in our family enjoyed them.

Cost

These aren’t cheap at all, the cost is $16.49 USD for 12 sausages in the pack. I will say that the sausages are pretty big and I think you definitely pay a bit more for them because they’re organic.

No nitrites or nitrates, gluten-free and no added MSG.

Convenience

What’s nice about these sausages are that they’re pretty versatile. They can be served for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can serve them in a bun like a hot dog but I think they’d be great just on their own with salad, rice or potato dishes like potato salad.

Suggestions on how to use the sausages.

The sausages need to be kept refrigerated and after opening a pack of sausages they need to be used within three days. Alternatively, the packs of sausages can be frozen for up to four months.

Because the sausages are already fully cooked you’re just heating them. The package has stovetop and grill heating instructions. We grilled our sausages, and they were really good with a nice sear on them.

Nutrition

Calories

One sausage contains 190 calories, 13 grams of fat, 610 milligrams of sodium, five grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fiber, three grams of sugar and 13 grams of protein.

I was expecting a little more protein than 13 grams so I find that a bit disappointing. The sausages are also moderately high in calories, fat and sodium, but most sausages are.

Ingredients

These are chicken sausages, but the casing is a “natural pork casing”. The ingredients list is extremely short and simple with organic chicken, organic dried apples and organic apple juice concentrate being the main ingredients.

These sausages are tasty enough and I love the simple, clean ingredients. I wouldn’t say they’re amazing but I enjoyed them and would have them again.

  1. Thank you for this review. I don’t think I will try them because I REALLY don’t like a sausage with a thick skin. It’s hard to find ones that don’t have the tough skin. I also don’t like those that have a lot of gristle, which most do. I figured these might be good since they were made of chicken, however, the thick skin would turn me off. Thanks, this review really helped me to choose.
