If I were going to try to invent a chocolate-based treat to sell, I think I’d stay away from anything with mint in it. It’s a crowded market! These Bouchard Mint Chocolate Thins are another entry into this competitive category. They do appear to be a bit higher-end than some options out there (After Eight being the best known). If you’re looking to buy some minty chocolates this holiday season, are these the best ones?
If you like the combination of mint and chocolate, you’ll probably enjoy the Utah Milk Chocolate Mint Truffles, After Eight Assorted Mint Pieces, Edward Marc Girl Scouts Thin Mints Bites, Yasso Greek Yogurt Bars, Häagen-Dazs Peppermint Bark Ice Cream Bars, Truffettes De France Peppermint White Chocolate Bites, Snack Factory White Chocolate Peppermint Pretzel Crisps and the Kirkland Signature Peppermint Bark.
Location in Store
These are located in the seasonal Christmas aisle at Costco. The item number is 1748054.
Taste
These are a better version of an After Eight. I think the chocolate is better quality than an After Eight. They’re a bit less minty and a bit more chocolatey than an After Eight (at least from what I can remember; it’s been a while since I’ve had an After Eight).
The chocolate is a fairly typical dark chocolate and works well with the mint. Even though I prefer milk chocolate to dark, dark pairs better with mint.
If you like After Eights, you’ll love the Bouchard Mint Chocolate Thins. I’ve always found chocolates with mint filling a bit boring, but they’re enjoyable.
Cost
I bought the 900-gram bag of mint thins on sale for $11.99 which is four dollars off the regular $15.99 price. On sale this is reasonable for such a large bag of dark chocolate mints.
Convenience
The best-before date listed on the bag is 13 months from when I purchased it. Each mint thin is individually wrapped and the bag also reseals so these can be easily shared with others. These are made in Belgium and should be stored in a cool-dry place.
Anyone who likes the combination of chocolate and mint will probably enjoy these. I can’t believe how strongly they smell of mint though. My whole kitchen smells minty just by opening the bag.
Nutrition
Calories
Four pieces contains 190 calories, nine grams of fat, 26 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fibre, 24 grams of sugar, two grams of protein and zero milligrams of sodium.
Honestly, I couldn’t eat more than one of these at a time. They’re very flavorful and sweet, one thin is less than 50 calories which isn’t bad at all.
Ingredients
The ingredients list is short with sugar being the first ingredient (no surprise). The thins contain soy and may contain milk, peanut, tree nuts and wheat.
The ingredients aren’t at all healthy and there’s zero nutritional benefit from eating these but they taste good!

Overall
Give it a try!
I like these better than After Eight but I’m not a huge mint chocolate fan. I think if you are someone who enjoys After Eight or chocolate with mint, you’ll love these.

My entire family loves these mints. The last time we were in Costco in Superior, Colorado they weren’t there. I hope they’re planning to kee selling them!
