Costco Kevin’s Turkey Gravy Review

Canadian Thanksgiving is just around the corner and U.S. Thanksgiving will be here before we know it! No Thanksgiving meal is complete without gravy, but what do you do if you’re having a small gathering and serving a turkey breast like the Kirkland Signature Turkey Breast rather than a whole turkey? This Kevin’s Turkey Gravy is the perfect solution. You get two big servings of pre-made gravy – you just heat it and serve it! Does it taste as good as the real thing though?

Some other Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner Costco items are the Kirkland Signature Master Carve Ham, Kirkland Signature Spiral Sliced Ham, Reser’s Main St. Bistro Baked Scalloped Potatoes, Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Pie, Johnny’s Au Gratin Potatoes, Back to Nature Gourmet Stuffing Mix, Lilydale Turkey Breast Roast and the Kirkland Signature Homestyle Apple Pie.

Location in Store

This is located in the refrigerated deli section at Costco, near the dips, cheeses and cold cut meats. The item number is 1766699.

Taste

I didn’t think I’d like this as much as I do! It tastes as good as homemade gravy to me and maybe even slightly better than some gravy I’ve had in the past. The gravy isn’t too salty which I like and the texture is nice and thick but not gluey.

Enjoying the Kevin’s turkey gravy!

The dominant flavor is turkey broth/turkey but there are also noticeable herb flavors like rosemary and thyme. I paired this with turkey but think it’d be great with roast chicken or even just to enjoy on mashed potatoes.

Cost

The 1.33-pound box comes with two large plastic pouches of gravy and costs $11.49 Canadian which I think is really reasonable for such a convenient and tasty gravy.

There are two large pouches of gravy in the box.

There’s a ton of gravy in one package, this would be perfect if you’re hosting a large Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.

Convenience

This is the easiest gravy I’ve ever made. All you do is cut open the pouch, pour the gravy into a saucepan and heat it on the stovetop. If you don’t have a stove or don’t want to heat it that way you can microwave it too.

The best-before date is almost two months from the date I bought it, the gravy needs to be kept refrigerated but can be frozen for up to six months. If it’s frozen it needs to be defrosted for 12 hours in the refrigerator.

Even if you’re making your own gravy you could combine this with it to stretch it a bit and have lots of gravy for those families that love it.

Nutrition

Calories

1/4 cup of gravy contains 45 calories, three grams of fat, two grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, zero grams of sugar, two grams of protein and 210 milligrams of sodium.

A quarter cup is about how much I would put on my turkey so I love that the gravy is low in calories, fat, carbohydrates and the sodium isn’t even that high! I feel like I can enjoy my gravy guilt-free.

Ingredients

All of the ingredients listed are ones I expect to see in store-bought gravy. The gravy is gluten-free but isn’t dairy-free, it contains whipping cream and butter.

Overall

Must buy if you’re not making your own gravy!

I’d absolutely buy this again if I needed extra gravy at Thanksgiving or Christmas or wasn’t making my own.

  1. This gravy doe NOT taste like any homemade gravy I’ve ever had or made. It has a fake bouillon taste and is nothing like any turkey gravy I’ve ever had. Way to thick and I’ll never buy it again. Save your money!

    • I have always thought I’ve made terrific turkey gravy, but I love Kevin‘s turkey gravy even more than my own. I will definitely buy it again.

  2. Costco Kevin’s turkey gravy taste like the jarred stuff. Very little flavor. Does not have turkey flavor. Costco had another brand of turkey gravy for at least 2 years running. It was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it tasted like home made. tasted like it had turkey dripping which home made has in it. I am very, very disappointed in Kevin’s turkey gravy. May go to Sam’s club where they have the other gravy that Costco had and buy there.
Other Kevin’s foods are really good so of course I thought the turkey gravy would be flavorful. Not so!!!!!!

  3. I bought this gravy last year and it is amazing.
Does anyone know when it will be at Costco this year?
I looked for it 2 days ago and it is not in the stores in Oregon yet.

  4. Your taste preferences don’t seem to align with the sales figures.

This gravy is currently on clearance and marked with an asterisk. If it was good, it would be around until after the holidays.

For those that don’t know, an asterisk at Costco and .97 price means it’s being discontinued.

  5. This product sounds amazing. I make really good gravy but like to have lots leftover for hot turkey sandwiches. I would probably mix both together for taste consistency.
Now I wonder if Costco East carries it. Thanks!

  6. I also think this is pricy for gravy, but I bought two frozen football style turkeys and they never produce enough drippings to make gravy so perhaps this is the answer. I’ll know in a week. Thanks Natalie for the tip.
