Angie’s is a company known for its “real simple ingredients”, so these Costco Boom Chicka Pop White Cheddar Puffs sound like a healthier version of a Cheeto. They’re non-GMO, gluten-free, have no artificial flavors or preservatives and apparently use “real cheddar cheese”. Are these cheese puffs actually any healthier than a Cheeto or a Cheezie? If they are, do they sacrifice taste?
When it comes to snacks, “puffs” aren’t my favorite and aren’t usually something we have in our house. I prefer popcorn but I still wanted to try Angie’s Boom Chicka Pop White Cheddar Puffs when I saw them at Costco.

Taste
I find these are very similar to Cheetos but are a tad less artificial tasting and way less orange. They have a strong salty, cheesy flavor and melt in your mouth.
The texture is very crunchy to begin with and then they just disintegrate in your mouth, kind of like eating flavored air. My nine-month-old daughter absolutely loves them and lights up when she gets them (don’t worry she doesn’t eat many).
Cost
I paid $7.99 Canadian for the 500-gram bag, it’s a really big bag so I think the price is really reasonable.
Convenience
The best-before date listed on the bag I purchased is four months from when I bought it. The bag reseals which I love because it keeps the puffs fresh. I like these as a mid-afternoon or evening snack. I think both adults and kids will enjoy them, especially if you’re someone who likes Cheetos.

Calories
There are 250 calories, 13 grams of fat, 31 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, three grams of sugar, three grams of protein and 500 milligrams of sodium in four cups of puffs. That’s a lot of puffs for not that many calories.
Ingredients
These are gluten-free, have no artificial flavors or colors, contain real cheese and are Non GMO. The ingredients list is pretty simple but that doesn’t mean they’re healthy! I do like that you can have a pretty decent serving size for not that many calories. However, when you compare the ingredients label to Cheetos the main difference is that these Angie’s puffs from Costco don’t contain artificial color or MSG.
